1In the core of a main-sequence star like the Sun, hydrogen is converted into helium primarily by which process?
2Which observation is strong evidence that the universe is expanding?
3Most elements heavier than helium in the early universe were produced by stellar nucleosynthesis. Which statement best describes that process?
4A planet orbits a star with period T and average orbital radius r. According to Kepler’s third law (simplified for a system dominated by the star’s mass), which relationship holds?
5Oceanic crust near a mid-ocean ridge is generally younger than crust farther from the ridge. What does this pattern best support?
6Which line of evidence best supports the idea that Earth and the other terrestrial planets accreted from a solar nebula of gas and dust?
7Melting of Arctic sea ice reduces surface albedo, allowing more solar energy absorption and further warming. This is an example of which type of system response?
8In the global carbon cycle, which process removes CO₂ from the atmosphere and stores carbon in living biomass?
9A community depends on a nonrenewable groundwater aquifer that recharges much more slowly than it is pumped. Which sustainability outcome is most likely if pumping rates remain unchanged?
10Spectral analysis of starlight shows dark absorption lines at specific wavelengths. What do these lines primarily indicate?
About the ISAT Science Grade 11 Exam
The Idaho Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) Science — Grade 11 is Idaho's statewide summative science assessment for grade 11. It measures three-dimensional Idaho State Science Standards (ISSS) across Earth and Space Science, Life Science, and Physical Science using phenomena-based item clusters and stand-alone items. Official forms are computer-based on the Idaho Portal. The high school blueprint samples high school Idaho State Science Standards (HS-ESS, HS-LS, HS-PS chemistry and physics). OpenExamPrep free practice is an English-language four-option MCQ study aid aligned to ISAT Science domains—not official secure content, not a full simulation of multi-part clusters, and not a substitute for classroom three-dimensional science learning. Official ISAT Science administration is available in English and in Spanish: the SDE ISAT program page states that Spanish-speaking students may take the math and science tests in Spanish or receive Spanish text-to-speech, and the Idaho UAAG lists Spanish dual-language supports for science. This practice bank is English-only.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the ISAT Science Grade 11 assessment?
It is Idaho's statewide summative science assessment for grade 11, administered by the Idaho State Department of Education and delivered through the Idaho Portal (Cambium Assessment). It aligns to three-dimensional Idaho State Science Standards across Earth and Space Science, Life Science, and Physical Science.
Who takes ISAT Science?
All Idaho public school students in grades 5, 8, and 11 take ISAT Science unless they qualify for the Idaho Alternate Assessment (IDAA) in science. Off-grade summative science testing is not permitted.
How many questions are on ISAT Science?
High School ISAT Science summative blueprint: 19 operational items (6 clusters + 13 stand-alones)—Earth/Space 6, Life 6, Physical Science 7 (2 clusters + 5 stand-alones)—plus field-test items. Physical Science includes chemistry and physics contexts. Official items are not all four-option multiple choice.
How long is ISAT Science?
Estimated about 96 minutes total for high school science (about 10 minutes per cluster, 2 minutes per stand-alone, plus ~10 minutes for field-test items) per SDE Science ISAT FAQ timing table. Schools schedule within the statewide spring summative window.
What score is proficient?
Students scoring Level 3 (Proficient) or Level 4 (Advanced) are considered proficient. Exact scale cut scores by grade are published on the Idaho Portal as ISAT Cut Scores.
Is there a student fee?
