About the HI HSA Science G8 Exam
The Hawaiʻi State Assessment in Science (NGSS) Grade 8 is Hawaiʻi’s statewide middle-school science assessment. It measures NGSS performance expectations from the grades 6–8 band using phenomena-based clusters and stand-alone items. Scale scores range 400–600 with proficient performance at 500 or higher. OpenExamPrep free practice uses English-language four-option MCQs as a study aid for standards knowledge and task decisions. It is not an official HIDOE form, not a full simulation of item clusters, technology-enhanced tasks, equation entry, or constructed responses, and not a substitute for classroom instruction or the secure assessment.
