1What is the standard minimum age for obtaining Romania's Category Tr driving licence?
A.16 years
B.18 years
C.21 years
D.24 years
Explanation: OUG 195/2002 sets the minimum age for Category Tr at 18. This age condition is separate from training, fitness and examination requirements.
2What design-speed ceiling identifies Romania's Category Tr1 agricultural or forestry tractors?
A.25 km/h
B.30 km/h
C.40 km/h
D.50 km/h
Explanation: Tr1 covers agricultural or forestry tractors with a maximum design speed not exceeding 40 km/h. A design-speed definition is different from the road's applicable speed limit.
3Subject to the other compatibility and road-use requirements, how many trailers may an agricultural or forestry tractor tow under the general Romanian towing rule?
A.One only
B.Up to two
C.Up to three
D.Any number if the tractor can pull them
Explanation: HG 1391/2006 allows an agricultural or forestry tractor to tow two trailers. This permission does not override coupling, braking, mass, dimension or licence restrictions.
4A tractor has separate left and right brake pedals with a coupling latch. What is the appropriate road-travel preparation where its handbook requires coupled pedals?
A.Leave them separate and press only the outside pedal on turns
B.Leave them separate but try to press both with one foot
C.Latch the pedals together so normal braking acts on both sides
D.Latch them only after reaching the public road
Explanation: Coupled pedals help prevent unintended one-sided braking and sudden yaw during road travel. Follow the particular tractor's instructions and prepare the brakes before moving onto the road.
5Why should a manually engaged differential lock normally be released before a tight turn on firm ground, as directed by the tractor handbook?
A.It forces the outside wheel to rotate faster than the inside wheel
B.It removes engine braking from both driven wheels
C.It prevents the driven wheels from rotating at the different speeds needed in a turn
D.It automatically applies the inside wheel brake continuously
Explanation: A locked differential restricts the speed difference between the driven wheels, which can resist turning and stress the driveline. Release it according to the manufacturer's procedure before a turn requiring normal differential action.
6Crop material is wrapped around a PTO-driven shaft. What must happen before anyone approaches to clear it?
A.Reduce engine speed and leave the PTO turning
B.Apply Safe Stop, isolate power, wait for all movement to stop and make stored energy safe
C.Ask another person to hold the shaft while it turns
D.Disengage the PTO but leave the engine running for convenience
Explanation: Use Safe Stop: secure the machine, place controls in a safe state, stop the engine and remove the key or isolate power. Rotating parts and stored energy must be safe before intervention; a damaged guard must also be corrected before reuse.
7What is the main purpose of an approved rollover protective structure, or ROPS, on a tractor?
A.To prevent every possible overturn
B.To provide a protective survival space during an overturn when used correctly
C.To allow unlimited travel across steep slopes
D.To replace safe route planning
Explanation: ROPS is intended to preserve a protective space if the tractor overturns. It does not prevent all overturns or remove the need for suitable terrain, speed and restraint use.
8Why is the fitted seat belt important when operating a tractor with its approved ROPS correctly deployed?
A.It prevents the tractor itself from rolling beyond 90 degrees
B.It allows the operator to jump clear while the tractor is overturning
C.It replaces the need to keep the ROPS secured in its operating position
D.It keeps the operator within the protected space during an overturn
Explanation: The restraint helps keep the operator inside the ROPS protective space rather than being thrown out and crushed. Use the belt and ROPS according to the manufacturer's instructions.
9A tractor leaving a wet field has wheels coated in mud that would create a hazardous deposit on the public road. What should the operator do before joining it?
A.Prevent the deposit by cleaning the wheels safely at a suitable place
B.Drive faster so the mud is shed quickly
C.Rely on other vehicles to spread the mud
D.Use hazard lights instead of addressing the mud
Explanation: Romanian traffic rules prohibit bringing mud onto the road in a way that creates a dangerous surface. Arrange safe cleaning before road entry and address any hazardous deposit through appropriate protective measures.
10How should a mounted implement be prepared for public-road travel?
A.Use its specified transport position, locks and guards, and check clearance and visibility
B.Raise it to its absolute maximum regardless of the handbook
C.Leave folding sections unsecured so they can move freely
D.Keep the PTO engaged to prevent settling
Explanation: The correct transport arrangement depends on the implement and tractor combination. Use the specified locks and guards and confirm that the equipment does not compromise clearance, stability, lights or the driver's view.

About the Romania Theory Test Tr Exam

Independent practice for Romania's Category Tr theory examination for agricultural and forestry tractors. The official test has 26 questions in 30 minutes with at least 22 correct required. This is an English-language MCQ study adaptation, not an official translation or a simulation of official language or multi-answer selection. It does not replace approved instruction, the practical driving assessment or hands-on machinery training. Tractor-specific procedures depend on the actual vehicle and implement handbook.

Romania Theory Test Tr: Suggested Study Strategy

1Distinguish vehicle-class restrictions from speed thresholds: a fast agricultural tractor is still prohibited on motorways and express roads.
2Use the actual tractor and implement manuals for brake layout, couplings, ballast, tyre pressure, fluid specifications and transport positions.
3Practise Safe Stop and equipment checks with an instructor, and study official multi-answer selection separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the official Tr theory format?

Order 268/2010 specifies 26 questions in 30 minutes, with 22 correct needed. Three unscored familiarization questions precede it. Official items have three answer variants and can contain multiple correct answers.

What languages can the official examination use?

Romanian is standard. Romanian national-minority applicants can request their mother tongue, including Hungarian or German; eligible foreign applicants can request English, French or German under Article 5. Confirm the applicable arrangements with SPCRPCIV.

Is Tr1 the same as Tr?

No. Tr1 identifies agricultural and forestry tractors with a maximum design speed not exceeding 40 km/h. OUG 195/2002 grants specified B/Tr-to-Tr1 equivalences without another test, including relevant one- or two-trailer combinations. This does not mean every B holder has unrestricted Tr entitlement.

What else is required on the ordinary Tr licensing route?

Applicants must be at least 18, meet medical, residence or qualifying study and legal conditions, complete approved theory and practical training, supply a valid examination file and pass the required assessments. The route includes practical driving; no separate essay, oral examination, case-study submission or graded take-home assignment is specified.

Does this bank replace practical machinery training?

No. It is independent English-language MCQ study practice, not an official translation, official-format simulation or substitute for practical driving or machinery operation. Use the actual manufacturer instructions and qualified hands-on instruction for equipment procedures.

What costs are separate from the theory test?

Exam-room access is free. The document fee is 139 RON from 15 September 2026; qualifying earlier payments attached to files registered before that date remain valid under the official notice. Driving-school and medical costs vary.
