1Which vehicle belongs to Romanian licence category D?
A.A goods vehicle over 3,500 kg with two seats
B.A passenger car towing a heavy caravan
C.A tractor carrying a mounted implement
D.A passenger vehicle with more than eight passenger seats besides the driver's seat
Explanation: Category D covers vehicles designed and constructed to carry more than eight passengers besides the driver. Goods-vehicle mass alone does not establish a passenger-transport entitlement.
2A minibus has 16 passenger seats besides the driver and is 8 metres long. Which description correctly identifies the limits of category D1?
A.At most eight passenger seats, with no length restriction
B.At most 16 seats including the driver, and at most 10 metres long
C.More than eight but at most 16 passenger seats, and at most 8 metres long
D.At most 24 passenger seats if used only inside localities
Explanation: D1 permits more than eight but no more than 16 passenger seats in addition to the driver's seat, with a maximum length of 8 metres. Both seating capacity and length matter when identifying this category.
3Under OG 43/1997 Annex 2, what is the standard maximum length of a two-axle bus, without a special authorization or applicable exception?
A.12.00 metres
B.13.50 metres
C.15.00 metres
D.18.75 metres
Explanation: The table gives two-axle buses a maximum length of 13.50 metres. It distinguishes them from other motor vehicles, buses with more than two axles, and articulated buses.
4Which standard length limit does OG 43/1997 Annex 2 specify for an articulated bus?
A.13.50 metres
B.15.00 metres
C.16.50 metres
D.18.75 metres
Explanation: The standard articulated-bus length limit is 18.75 metres. The separate 16.50-metre entry for an articulated freight vehicle should not be substituted for the bus entry.
5A passenger asks the bus driver to leave a door open for ventilation between stops. What should the driver do?
A.Agree if nobody stands beside that door
B.Agree below the locality speed limit
C.Open only the rear door during travel
D.Keep the passenger doors closed while the bus is moving
Explanation: Passenger doors must remain closed while the vehicle is moving. Ventilation should be provided through the vehicle's intended ventilation equipment rather than an open passenger doorway.
6A coach has marked emergency windows designed to be broken with a hammer. What belongs in the pre-departure check?
A.Check that the designated hammers are present and readily accessible
B.Store all hammers in the locked driver's locker
C.Remove the hammers if the roof hatch works
D.Check the glass but leave tool checks to the next inspection
Explanation: A breakable emergency exit depends on its designated breaking tool being available. Checking only the window or another escape route leaves that exit potentially unusable.
7Where should large passenger suitcases be placed before a coach departs?
A.In the aisle if passengers can step over them
B.In suitable luggage storage, secured without obstructing exits or aisles
C.Against an emergency door to prevent them sliding
D.On spare seats without restraint
Explanation: Baggage must be stored so it cannot shift dangerously or obstruct escape routes. Clear aisles and exits are needed during both normal passenger movement and an evacuation.
8On a scheduled public bus service, a passenger requests to get off at a traffic light between stops. What is the appropriate response?
A.Allow it if the traffic light is red
B.Allow it after switching on the hazard lights
C.Use the next designated stop and stop fully before opening the doors
D.Allow it if the pavement is clear
Explanation: HG 1391/2006 requires public passenger transport to use designated stops for boarding and alighting. A red traffic light or a clear pavement does not turn an ordinary traffic lane into a bus stop.
9A coach has seat belts fitted to its passenger seats. What should the driver communicate before departure?
A.Belts are needed only in the front row
B.Passengers must use the fitted belts while travelling, subject to lawful exemptions
C.Belts are optional on journeys inside Romania
D.Belts are needed only on motorways
Explanation: Occupants of seats fitted with safety belts must use them, subject to applicable legal exemptions. The driver has a duty to inform passengers of the obligation.
10A wheelchair user boards a bus with an approved wheelchair bay. Which procedure best accounts for different bay and restraint designs?
A.Use the bay and secure the wheelchair and occupant according to that vehicle's approved instructions
B.Use the same strap arrangement on every bus regardless of design
C.Park the wheelchair in the aisle if its own brakes work
D.Ask the passenger to hold a handrail instead of using the provided safety system
Explanation: Wheelchair spaces and restraint arrangements differ between approved vehicles. The driver must use the designated space and follow the instructions for its equipment rather than improvise a universal arrangement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the official question bank?

No. This is independent English-language MCQ study practice with four options and one best answer. It is not an official translation, official-format simulation or substitute for practical training.

What languages can the official theory test use?

Romanian is the standard language. Romanian national-minority applicants can request their mother tongue, including Hungarian or German; eligible foreign applicants can request English, French or German under Order 268/2010 Article 5. Confirm the applicable language arrangements with SPCRPCIV.

What else is required to obtain D?

The ordinary route requires Category B entitlement, approved theory and practical training, medical fitness, residence or qualifying study eligibility, a valid examination file, theory and practical assessment. The standard D age is 24, with statutory professional-qualification and training exceptions. This licence is distinct from any separate professional passenger-transport qualification.

Does the assessment include an essay or oral assignment?

The cited licensing procedure specifies a computer theory test and practical driving assessment, not an essay, oral examination, case-study submission or graded take-home assignment.

What does it cost?

Exam-room access is free. The licence document costs 139 RON from 15 September 2026, separately from variable school and medical costs. The official tariff notice preserves qualifying earlier payments attached to examination files registered before that date.
