The ANCC Informatics Nursing Certification (RN-BC) is a specialty certification offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center for registered nurses who specialize in nursing informatics. It validates expertise in integrating nursing science with information and analytical sciences to manage and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom in nursing practice.

The ANCC Informatics Nursing Certification exam consists of 150 questions. Of these, 125 are scored questions and 25 are pretest (unscored) questions used for future exam development. You have 3 hours to complete the exam.

The passing score for the ANCC Informatics Nursing Certification exam is 350 on a scaled score of 100-500. This is a standard ANCC passing threshold. Your score report will indicate whether you passed or failed, but specific scaled scores are not released.

The exam fee is $395 for non-members and $295 for American Nurses Association (ANA) members. This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. If you need to reschedule, you must do so at least 24 hours before your exam appointment to avoid forfeiting the fee.

The ANCC Informatics Nursing Certification (RN-BC) is valid for 5 years. To renew, you must meet the ANCC renewal requirements, which include completing 75 continuing education hours (25 of which must be in informatics nursing) OR completing one of the other ANCC renewal options such as academic credit, presentations, publications, or preceptorship hours.
