About the VITEEE Exam
VITEEE (VIT Engineering Entrance Examination) is the all-India computer-based admission test conducted annually by Vellore Institute of Technology for B.Tech admissions across VIT Vellore, VIT Chennai, VIT-AP (Amaravati), and VIT Bhopal. The 2.5-hour CBT contains 125 MCQs split into five sections: Mathematics or Biology (40), Physics (35), Chemistry (35), Aptitude (10), and English (5). VITEEE follows Class 11-12 CBSE/state-board curriculum and uses +1 marking with NO negative marking, making attempting every question strategically optimal. VITEEE 2026 is scheduled for 28 April through 3 May 2026.

VITEEE Exam Content Outline
Mathematics or Biology
Candidates choose either Mathematics (for B.Tech engineering) or Biology (for biotech/bio-engineering). Math covers Class 11-12 CBSE: matrices and determinants, complex numbers, vectors, differential and integral calculus, coordinate geometry, probability, trigonometry, and discrete math. Biology covers cell biology, genetics, human physiology, plant physiology, ecology, and biotechnology.
Physics
35 questions on Class 11-12 CBSE Physics: laws of motion, work-energy-power, gravitation, oscillations and waves, properties of matter, electrostatics, current electricity, magnetic effects, electromagnetic induction, AC circuits, optics (ray and wave), modern physics, semiconductors, and communication systems.
Chemistry
35 questions covering Class 11-12 CBSE Chemistry: atomic structure, chemical bonding, states of matter, thermodynamics, solutions, equilibrium, redox, electrochemistry, chemical kinetics, surface chemistry, s-block, p-block, d-block, coordination chemistry, organic chemistry (hydrocarbons, alcohols, aldehydes, carboxylic acids, amines), and biomolecules.
Aptitude
10 questions on logical and quantitative reasoning: number/letter series, coding-decoding, blood relations, calendar and clock, direction sense, profit-and-loss, percentages, ratio, time-and-distance, and data interpretation.
English

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the VITEEE 2026 exam pattern?
VITEEE 2026 is a 150-minute computer-based test with 125 MCQs across five sections: Mathematics or Biology (40 questions), Physics (35), Chemistry (35), Aptitude (10), and English (5). Each correct answer earns +1 mark, and there is NO negative marking — so candidates should attempt every question.
When is VITEEE 2026 being held and how do I apply?
VITEEE 2026 is scheduled to run from 28 April to 3 May 2026 in multiple slots across India and select international centres. Applications are submitted online at viteee.vit.ac.in. The application fee is INR 1,350 for Indian candidates and USD 90 for NRI/foreign nationals.
Should I choose Mathematics or Biology in Part-I?
Choose Mathematics if you plan to pursue any core B.Tech engineering programme at VIT (CSE, ECE, Mechanical, Civil, etc.). Choose Biology only if you are targeting Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or Bioinformatics streams. The Math option opens far more branches and is taken by ~95% of VITEEE candidates.
Does VITEEE have negative marking?
No. VITEEE uses straight +1 marking for correct answers and 0 for incorrect or unattempted. This is a key strategic difference from JEE Main and most other engineering entrances — at VITEEE you should mark every question even if you have to guess.
Which VIT campuses accept the VITEEE score?
VITEEE is the gateway to B.Tech programmes at all four VIT campuses: VIT Vellore (the flagship campus), VIT Chennai, VIT-AP (Amaravati), and VIT Bhopal. Rank-based counselling allows you to choose campus and branch in descending preference order.
What is the syllabus for VITEEE?
The VITEEE syllabus is built on the NCERT/CBSE Class 11 and 12 curriculum for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (or Biology). The Aptitude section tests logical and quantitative reasoning, and the English section tests basic grammar, vocabulary, and short-passage comprehension. The complete syllabus is published in the VITEEE Information Brochure at viteee.vit.ac.in.
How many attempts do I get and is there an age limit?
There is no cap on the number of attempts. The age limit is that the candidate should have been born on or after 1 July 2004 for VITEEE 2026 (i.e., not over 21 years 9 months at the start of the academic year). Candidates must have passed or be appearing in Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology.
