What is the CQE exam?
The CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) is ASQ's certification for professionals who develop, operate, and improve quality systems. It covers management and leadership, the quality system, product/process/service design, process control, continuous improvement, quantitative methods, and risk management.
How many questions are on the CQE exam?
The computer-based CQE exam has 175 multiple-choice questions: 160 scored and 15 unscored pretest items. Exam time is 5 hours and 18 minutes within a 5.5-hour appointment. The exam is open-book with approved bound reference materials.
What is the CQE passing score?
ASQ uses a scaled scoring system and reports a Pass/Fail result. ASQ does not publish the numeric cut score for the CQE.
Is the CQE exam open book?
Yes. Candidates may bring personal bound reference materials to the testing center. Electronic devices and sharing materials with other examinees are not permitted. ASQ and Prometric inspect references at check-in.
What experience is needed for the CQE?
Candidates need eight years of on-the-job experience in one or more CQE Body of Knowledge areas, including at least three years in a decision-making role. Education can waive part of the eight years: trade/technical diploma one year, associate degree two years, bachelor's degree four years, and master's or doctorate five years (only one waiver may be claimed).
How much does the CQE exam cost?
