About the USPAP Exam
USPAP is the generally recognized ethical and performance standard for appraisal practice in the United States. The current 2024 edition contains the Preamble, Definitions, five Rules, and Standards 1-10. The separate 2026 Guidance and Reference Manual contains Advisory Opinions, FAQs, and a Reference Index; AO-41 was adopted in April 2026 and is available separately pending inclusion in a future GRM. The 15-Hour course or equivalent is initial real-property qualifying education, while the 7-Hour update course or equivalent is continuing education taken once every two calendar years. Neither course assessment should be confused with the broader AQB National Uniform Licensing and Certification Examination administered through state testing programs.
Exam sponsor: Appraisal Standards Board for USPAP; education providers for course assessments; state regulators and their vendors for AQB credential exams. The requirements and fees below concern the certification or admission exam, separate from our free practice resources.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the USPAP vocabulary game free?
Yes. The game is free to play with no sign-up. Signing in adds AI explanations for any term.
How does the USPAP vocabulary game work?
Each round shows a clue for one of 20 USPAP terms. Guess the term in six tries: green means the right letter in the right spot, yellow means the letter is in the term but in another spot, and gray means it is not in the term. After the round, read the explanation and play the next term.
Where do the USPAP terms come from?
OpenExamPrep researched each term from the Appraisal Standards Board for USPAP; education providers for course assessments; state regulators and their vendors for AQB credential exams content outline and primary sources, listed under Sources on this page. The game is independent study material, not an official exam resource.
What is the current edition of USPAP?
The 2024 edition remains current. It took effect January 1, 2024, has no fixed end date, and will be updated by the Appraisal Standards Board only as needed.
Is the 15-Hour USPAP course final the AQB licensing exam?
No. A provider's course final assesses its 15-Hour course. The separate AQB National Exam is a broader credential examination taken after state-verified education and experience.
