About the Tennessee CNA Exam
Credentia has provided Tennessee nurse aide testing and registry services for HFC since June 1, 2026. The NNAAP evaluation combines a knowledge or oral examination with an in-person skills evaluation. The handbook lists 75 knowledge/oral questions in two hours, but its pages disagree about whether ten unscored items are included or additional. Skills testing covers handwashing and four randomly selected skills, including a measurement skill, in 30 minutes. Eligible candidates who pass both components are placed on the Tennessee Nurse Aide Registry.
Exam sponsor: Credentia, under contract with the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission (HFC). The requirements and fees below concern the certification or admission exam, separate from our free practice resources.

Is the TN CNA vocabulary game free?
Yes. The game is free to play with no sign-up. Signing in adds AI explanations for any term.
How does the TN CNA vocabulary game work?
Each round shows a clue for one of 20 TN CNA terms. Guess the term in six tries: green means the right letter in the right spot, yellow means the letter is in the term but in another spot, and gray means it is not in the term. After the round, read the explanation and play the next term.
Where do the TN CNA terms come from?
OpenExamPrep researched each term from the Credentia, under contract with the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission (HFC) content outline and primary sources, listed under Sources on this page. The game is independent study material, not an official exam resource.
Who administers the Tennessee CNA exam?
Credentia became HFC’s nurse aide testing and registry vendor on June 1, 2026. Use the Tennessee page on Credentia for current applications, scheduling, results and registry services.
How many questions are on the Tennessee knowledge exam?
Credentia’s overview and knowledge-exam pages list 75 multiple-choice questions with a two-hour limit and a 75% passing threshold. The overview says ten experimental items are intermingled; the content outline describes ten as added. Because that split is inconsistent, confirm it with Credentia rather than assuming a scored count or a raw number of correct answers needed.
