How do the DC Security Officer vocabulary games work?
There are 4 games built on 20 DC Security Officer terms. In Guess the Term, a clue describes one term and you have six tries to spell it, with green, yellow and gray letters showing how close you are. In Term Match, six terms appear as colored tiles; swap neighbors to line up three or more of the same term, and each match shows what the term means. In Term Pairs, twelve face-down cards hide six pairs of terms; flip two at a time to find each pair, and every pair you find shows what the term means. In Term Search, five terms hide in a grid of letters, reading across, down or diagonally; drag across a term to circle it, and each term you find shows what it means.
Where do the DC Security Officer terms come from?
OpenExamPrep researched each term from the DLCP / PSI content outline and primary sources, listed under Sources on this page. The game is independent study material, not an official exam resource.
What are the DC security officer training requirements?
DC requires at least 24 hours of pre-assignment training, specifically including terrorism awareness (building evacuation, unattended packages and unknown substances), emergency procedures including evacuation and first aid, and customer service and interaction with tourists. Officers must also complete a 16-hour on-the-job course within 90 working days of employment and an 8-hour in-service course every year. Special Police Officers (SPOs) instead complete 40 hours covering arrest powers, search and seizure, and firearms.
How much does the DC security officer exam cost?
The exam fee is $69, paid directly to the PSI testing center. The DLCP new application fee is $103 and includes the cost of the fingerprint card and record checks; under 17 DCMR § 2108.5 the employer pays the application fee and training costs and may not deduct them from the officer's pay.
