Frequently Asked Questions

Is the CISA vocabulary game free?

Yes. The game is free to play with no sign-up. Signing in adds AI explanations for any term.

How do the CISA vocabulary games work?

There are 4 games built on 20 CISA terms. In Guess the Term, a clue describes one term and you have six tries to spell it, with green, yellow and gray letters showing how close you are. In Term Match, six terms appear as colored tiles; swap neighbors to line up three or more of the same term, and each match shows what the term means. In Term Pairs, twelve face-down cards hide six pairs of terms; flip two at a time to find each pair, and every pair you find shows what the term means. In Term Search, five terms hide in a grid of letters, reading across, down or diagonally; drag across a term to circle it, and each term you find shows what it means.

Where do the CISA terms come from?

OpenExamPrep researched each term from the ISACA content outline and primary sources, listed under Sources on this page. The game is independent study material, not an official exam resource.

What is the CISA exam format?

The CISA exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions with a 4-hour time limit. The exam is non-adaptive (linear format). You need a scaled score of 450 out of 800 to pass. Questions are distributed across 5 domains, with Domain 4 (Operations) and Domain 5 (Asset Protection) each comprising 26% of the exam.

What are the CISA experience requirements?

CISA requires 5 years of professional experience in IS audit, control, or security. Up to 3 years can be substituted with certain education or certifications: 1 year waived for a 4-year degree, 1 year for certain certifications (CISSP, CISM, etc.), and 60 university semester hours count as 1 year. You can take the exam before meeting experience requirements and must apply for certification within five years of passing; qualifying experience must fall within the 10 years before the application.
