How do the AR HVAC vocabulary games work?
There are 4 games built on 20 AR HVAC terms. In Guess the Term, a clue describes one term and you have six tries to spell it, with green, yellow and gray letters showing how close you are. In Term Match, six terms appear as colored tiles; swap neighbors to line up three or more of the same term, and each match shows what the term means. In Term Pairs, twelve face-down cards hide six pairs of terms; flip two at a time to find each pair, and every pair you find shows what the term means. In Term Search, five terms hide in a grid of letters, reading across, down or diagonally; drag across a term to circle it, and each term you find shows what it means.
Where do the AR HVAC terms come from?
OpenExamPrep researched each term from the Arkansas Department of Labor and Licensing content outline and primary sources, listed under Sources on this page. The game is independent study material, not an official exam resource.
What are the Arkansas HVAC/R license classes?
Arkansas currently issues five classes under 17 CAR § 261-103: Class A covers unlimited HVAC/R work; Class B covers systems up to 25 tons cooling, 1,000,000 BTUH heating input, and 15 horsepower refrigeration per unit; Class D covers sheet metal ductwork; Class E covers refrigeration without horsepower limits; and Class L is a lifetime service-and-maintenance license. The Class C license was repealed by Act 746 of 2025 and existing Class C holders were converted to Class B.

Under 17 CAR § 261-104 an applicant with no prior licensing background must show at least two years of experience as an HVAC/R contractor or as an employee of an HVAC/R contractor, and must be at least 18 years old. The Board must use the least restrictive requirements and accepts records, affidavits, or bona fide evidence from current or former employers. The Board may substitute board-approved HVAC/R educational training for experience, but apprenticeship, education, or training can never be made a prerequisite for licensure.
