A customer's oil life monitor light is on. What's the correct service sequence?

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the ASE G1 exam pass rate?
ASE does not publish an official pass rate specific to the G1 test. ASE only states that roughly two out of three candidates pass ASE certification tests on their first attempt across the test series as a whole, so treat any G1-specific pass-rate figure you see elsewhere as an estimate, not an ASE-published statistic.
What is the passing score for ASE G1?
ASE converts your raw performance to a scaled score, and you need a scaled score of 70 to pass. ASE does not publish a fixed percentage of raw questions you must answer correctly, because the scaling adjusts for the difficulty of the specific test form you receive.
How many questions are on the G1 exam and how long is it?
The G1 test has 55 total questions: 45 scored plus 10 unscored research questions used to evaluate future test items. You get 90 minutes to complete the test, and because you cannot tell scored from unscored questions apart, you must answer every question as if it counts.
What happens if I fail the ASE G1 test?
ASE requires a 30 full-day wait before you can purchase and schedule the same test again, whether you passed or failed. There is no escalating wait period for G1 specifically like some other certification programs use; each retake requires a new test fee and registration fee.
What work experience do I need to earn G1 certification?
You need 1 year of full-time, hands-on work experience in maintenance and light repair to receive the G1 credential after passing the test. Without formal automotive training, ASE requires 2 years of experience; relevant vocational or high-school automotive training can substitute for up to 1 year of that requirement. The certification itself is valid for 5 years before recertification is required.
