Can You Take the PTOE Exam?
Check if you meet the basic eligibility requirements
- •PE license must be current and valid at the time of application
- •Certification valid for 3 years; renewal requires 45 PDHs (15 PDHs per year equivalent) in the six PTOE subject domains
- •Beginning with the 2027 renewal cycle, 1 PDH of general ethics training is required each renewal cycle
- •Name on application must match government-issued identification

Retake Policy
TPCB administers the PTOE exam in February, June, and October. Candidates who do not pass may reapply for a later administration and pay the $150 unsuccessful-exam retake fee. A candidate who receives a not-passing result may also request a manual rescore within 90 days for a $60 fee.
