Frequently Asked Questions
Is the RSP vocabulary game free?
Yes. The game is free to play with no sign-up. Signing in adds AI explanations for any term.
How does the RSP vocabulary game work?
Each round shows a clue for one of 20 RSP terms. Guess the term in six tries: green means the right letter in the right spot, yellow means the letter is in the term but in another spot, and gray means it is not in the term. After the round, read the explanation and play the next term.
Where do the RSP terms come from?
OpenExamPrep researched each term from the Transportation Professional Certification Board (TPCB) / Meazure Learning content outline and primary sources, listed under Sources on this page. The game is independent study material, not an official exam resource.
What is the RSP Level 1 exam format and passing score?
RSP1 has 75 qualitative multiple-choice questions in 3 hours. It is closed book and computer based; no computations are required, but quantitative safety concepts are tested. TPCB uses criterion-referenced standard setting; a fixed passing percentage was not confirmed in the reviewed scoring policy. See https://www.tpcb.org/certification/rsp1/exam-format-and-content/ and https://www.tpcb.org/exams/scoring/.
How much does RSP Level 1 certification cost?
The standard initial total is USD 280: USD 100 non-refundable application/examination plus USD 180 three-year certification, with the latter refundable if unsuccessful. The currently hosted application packet also lists an additional USD 150 for residents outside North America; confirm applicability when registering. The current fee page lists USD 100 retest, USD 150 reschedule and USD 165 three-year renewal. Discounts apply to the certification component for existing PTOE/PTP holders.
