Phase 2: Measurement Technique
Study emissivity correction, reflected apparent temperature (RAT) measurement using aluminum foil method, atmospheric attenuation correction, level/span display controls, spot/area tools, and D:S ratio.
Phase 3: Application-Specific Inspection
Practice electrical inspection (load requirements, temperature differentials, severity classification), mechanical inspection (bearings, motors, steam traps), and building envelope (delta-T, insulation, rooftop surveys).

Blackbody radiation, Planck's law, Stefan-Boltzmann law (T^4), Wien's displacement law, emissivity, Kirchhoff's law (ε + ρ + τ = 1), gray body vs. selective radiator, LWIR/MWIR spectral bands.
IFOV (spatial resolution), NETD (thermal sensitivity), FOV, lens types (germanium LWIR), microbolometer detectors, NUC, level/span display controls, spot/area measurement, D:S ratio, atmospheric attenuation, IR-opaque materials (glass, plastic).
