The Comprensione della lettura e riflessione grammaticale module on CILS B1 Cittadinanza is one combined 40-minute skill worth 12 points. Official Centro CILS materials define two prove, not three separate academic reading papers.

Official module architecture

Prova 1 — information check / true-false

• One authentic everyday text (service notice, regional announcement, informational article, instructions).
• 12 true/false (or closely related information-check) items.
• 0.5 point each → 6 points total.
• Trap pattern: statements that swap sempre/di solito, change an hour, or invent a service the text never offered.

Prova 2 — multiple-choice cloze (riflessione grammaticale)

• A second short informative text with blanks.
• 6 items, each with multiple-choice completions.
• 1 point each → 6 points total.
• Targets articles, articulated prepositions, verb forms from the sillabo, connectors, and high-frequency vocabulary.

Do not prepare a fabricated “three-task matching + long MCQ + cloze” model. Some commercial books invent extra task types; the citizenship module’s published construct is the two-prova structure above.

Text types you should expect

• Public-service announcements and regional mobility updates
• School, housing, health, and consumer notices
• Short informational articles about everyday life in Italy
• Instructions and regulations written in linear, accessible Italian

Official length guidance across the reading texts is roughly 350–500 words total for the module’s written input.

Absolute-word trap drill

Text: Il numero verde è attivo dal lunedì al venerdì. Statement: Il servizio è sempre disponibile anche il sabato. → Falso.

Cloze tactics for Prova 2

1. Read the full paragraph once ignoring blanks.
2. Decide the grammatical job of each blank (article? preposition? verb tense? connector?).
3. Eliminate options that break agreement or sillabo-listed forms.
4. Prefer listed forms (presente, passato prossimo, imperfetto, condizionale, articulated prepositions) over exotic moods.

40-minute time box

Leaving cloze blanks empty is expensive (1 point each). Guess after eliminating impossibles.

Worked mini example (Prova 1 logic)

Text idea: a Region activates a freephone number weekdays 8:00–18:00 for local transport complaints; citizens later receive an explanation.

Connecting reading practice to citizenship life

Every practice text should feel like something a resident might actually receive: a CUP notice, a condominium circular, a school cafeteria update, a transport change, or a consumer-service email. After each V/F set, write two oral sentences summarizing the text; after each cloze, recycle one new collocation into a practice email. That loop ties Lettura to Produzione orale and Produzione scritta without inventing extra exam tasks.

Error patterns that cost half-points

True/false items often fail candidates who read too fast. Train these four checks on every statement:

1. Time/day swap: weekday hours presented as weekend availability.
2. Scope creep: a regional bus service described as covering flights or national trains.
3. Obligation invention: “must book online” when the text only says booking is possible.
4. Quantity twist: “all citizens” when the text says “residents of the municipality.”

For cloze, the expensive mistakes are agreement misses and preposition misses. Before choosing an option, name the governing noun or verb out loud: vicino ___ stazione needs alla; ho ___ una mail likely needs scritto/inviato with correct participle shape.
