1.3 Sitting Rules, 65 Percent and Re-sits

The booklet's examination guidelines were written for a paper room. GPF now delivers an electronic multiple-choice sitting at an approved centre. Learn the conduct rules as printed, then apply them to a computer room: early arrival, identity, no unauthorised material, no collusion, late-arrival consequences, and the 65 percent mark. The aim named in the programme is not a scraped certificate. It is that you put the principles into practice on Guyana's left-hand roads.

Quick Answer: Arrive 15 minutes early. Unauthorised books or paper count as intent to cheat and bring expulsion; collusion also brings expulsion. After 15 minutes you may still be allowed in, but lost time is yours. Leave before 30 minutes and the booklet says you will not re-enter. Sit no sooner than one month after the package is issued. You need 65 percent. A re-sit is GY$1,000 after about one month. The live exam is electronic; the booklet's X on a letter is the historical paper method.

Arrive 15 minutes early

Candidates must be in the examination area at least fifteen minutes before commencement. Use that buffer for identity, seating, and instructions. Being on time at the street door is already late for the rule. Traffic Headquarters at Eve Leary, or whichever approved centre you booked, will not pause the sitting because your minibus was slow on the East Bank.

Bring national identification — the same ID used when you purchased the package or completed the form. The booklet also asks students to bring the programme document to tutorial or examinations. If you still have that schedule page with your candidate number, bring it. An electronic sitting does not make identity optional.

Unauthorised materials mean cheating

On paper, candidates will have in their possession only a suitable pen for writing the examination. No unauthorised paper or books are to be in the candidate's possession. The presence of unauthorised material is deemed intent to cheat, and that candidate will be expelled from the examination area.

That rule is broader than 'no cheat sheets from a friend.' A printed chapter from this independent guide, a Highway Code photocopy in your lap, and a phone with notes are all extra paper or devices the invigilator did not issue. Do not test whether a GPF PDF printout will be treated as official. The booklet bans unauthorised paper and books, not merely 'non-GPF' books.

Collusion

No collusion between candidates is permitted. Persons found in that act will be expelled from the examination. The booklet's printed line has an obvious typing scar ('conclusion between-candidates'); the meaning in the programme is collusion. Talking across seats, sharing a screen, mouthing answers, or using a second phone to text a friend in the room are the same offence with different tools.

Seats are to be taken at reasonable intervals to give an environment of examination. Do not close that interval yourself.

Late after 15 minutes; no re-entry if you leave before 30

Late candidates will be allowed to write the examination after fifteen minutes have elapsed from commencement. Time lost due to lateness is entirely at the detriment of the candidate. You are not owed extra minutes on a computer clock or a paper clock.

Candidates who leave the examination room before thirty minutes after commencement will not be allowed to re-enter. That is a paper-room rule in the booklet. Do not assume you can step out for a call in the first half-hour and return. If you must leave a computer sitting, take the invigilator's instruction as controlling on the day; the printed rule is no re-entry before 30 minutes.

One month after the package is issued

Examination for the learner/driver theoretical programme will be held no sooner than one month after the issue of the package. The specific date could be confirmed by telephone, quoting your candidate number, at the office where you uplifted the package, or on any day thereafter at the hours on the schedule page.

The portal instead shows available dates after payment clears and the 48-hour update has run. Teach both clocks:

• Booklet: first sitting not sooner than one month after issue
• Portal: choose from dates GPF has opened, after 48 hours from MMG payment

Confirm which clock GPF is using for your booking. Do not invent a number of days other than the booklet's one month and the portal's 48-hour payment wait. Do not treat a newly opened drop-down date as permission to skip study of the three books.

The qualifying mark is 65 percent

The examination is multiple-choice type questions. You are required to achieve a qualifying mark of sixty-five (65) percent for certification at the end of the examination. Remember 65 percent, not 50, 70, or 80. GPF has not published how many items that percentage is applied to, so you cannot convert 65 percent into a guaranteed raw number of correct clicks. Study the whole syllabus.

The programme's ultimate aim is that you put into practice what you have learnt. A 65 percent certificate with no keep-left habit is a paper win and a road failure. Later chapters on defensive driving and crash duties exist because the sitting is supposed to change what you do at a junction, not only what you tap on a screen.

Re-sits: GY$1,000 after about one month

Candidates who sit theoretical examinations will be sent letters of success or failure. Inform GPF immediately of any change of address so that letter reaches you. In the case of failure, a re-sit may be arranged for an additional fee of one thousand dollars (GY$1,000) for each additional sitting. Arrangements are made at the office at which the original examination was done.

Wait about one month. That is the same order of delay as the first sitting's one-month-after-issue rule. Do not expect a next-day re-sit, and do not pay another GY$3,500 unless GPF has told you that you are registering from scratch rather than re-sitting. The GY$1,000 figure is per extra sitting, not a one-time pass to unlimited attempts in a week.

Use the month. The 13 subjects include first aid and vehicle checks that a rushed first attempt often skips. Independent OpenExamPrep study can help you rebuild those topics; it does not reschedule GPF's letter or collect the re-sit fee.

Paper X-mark versus the electronic sitting

The booklet's sample method is paper multiple choice:

• Mark (x) on the letter you think gives the correct answer.
• If you change your mind, circle the incorrect answer and mark a new (x) on the correct answer.
• Doing otherwise may result in loss of marks.
• Only a stable pen is to be used.

Other paper logistics still printed in the package: prescribed papers are distributed; candidates have time to read through and clear up misunderstanding; a specific time to start and stop writing is established; at stop, all papers are collected and accounted for by the invigilator.

The live GPF sitting is an electronic multiple-choice exam at an approved centre. You select on screen rather than drawing an X on a lettered paper. Know the booklet method because it is still in the package you studied. On the day, follow the computer instructions for selecting, changing, and submitting an answer. Do not keep clicking after stop any more than you would keep marking X after papers were called in.

A stable pen is the paper tool. A logged-in exam client is the electronic tool. Unauthorised paper is still unauthorised in both rooms. Collusion is still collusion in both rooms. 65 percent is still the qualifying mark in both rooms.
