Can You Take the CJBAT Exam?

Check if you meet the basic eligibility requirements

Age
Age and academy eligibility are handled through Florida criminal justice officer standards and the training center or agency path.
Education
For law-enforcement academy candidates, an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university can exempt the Law Enforcement BAT under the July 1, 2022 statutory rule; this does not apply to corrections academy candidates.
Experience
No previous law enforcement or corrections experience is required for the CJBAT itself; use only the material provided in questions or passages.
Background Check
Background and certification requirements are handled through Florida criminal justice officer standards, agencies, and training centers.
Additional Requirements
  • Eligible veterans can be exempt from the Law Enforcement BAT under the July 1, 2022 rule, but no discharge classification other than Honorable or General Discharge Under Honorable Conditions qualifies.
  • There are separate CJBAT versions for law enforcement and corrections; corrections candidates should not rely on the law-enforcement exemption.
  • The only controlling result record is the electronic record in FDLE ATMS, not a paper score report.
