Candidates are typically Canadian graduates of a CCAPP-accredited pharmacy technician program, or international pharmacy graduates who have completed PEBC's document evaluation and gap-training requirements.
Additional Requirements
  • •Both Part I (MCQ) and Part II (OSPE) must be completed within three years of one another to qualify for certification.
  • •Candidates are allowed three attempts at each Part; after three failed attempts, Board-approved remediation is required before a fourth and final attempt.
  • •Certification with PEBC is a prerequisite for, but separate from, registration with a provincial pharmacy regulatory authority.

Criterion-referenced. PEBC does not publish a fixed percentage; a panel of subject matter experts sets the cut-score (the number of correct items needed to meet the minimum performance standard). Scores are standardized so the pass standard is comparable across administrations.

The Part I (MCQ) examination fee is CAD $585 for 2027 sittings, and Part II (OSPE) is a separate CAD $1,240. Re-scoring Part I costs CAD $100, and Prometric charges CAD $60 plus HST to reschedule or cancel. International graduates also pay separate evaluation fees.
Exam Fee
Study time: Most candidates study for several weeks to a few months using the PEBC blueprint, sample questions, NAPRA competencies and provincial law references, plus calculation and compounding practice. Candidates are permitted three attempts per Part before Board-approved remediation is required.
