About the NM CID MM-1 Exam
The New Mexico CID MM-1 examination is the contractor plumbing trade exam. The official open-book PSI exam has 100 scored questions, a 75% passing standard (75 points), and 250 minutes allowed. Allowed references include UMC 2021, NMAC 14.8.2 (2015), UPC 2021, IPT's Pipe Trades Handbook (2016), NMAC 14.9.2 (2015), NMAC 20.7.3 (2005), and NFPA 30A (2015 or earlier). Mathematics for Plumbers and Pipefitters and OSHA 29 CFR 1926 are listed as not allowed in the exam center. NMAC 14.6.6 MM-1 requires four years of experience and covers plumbing, fixtures, piping, hot-water heating not exceeding 30 psi or 400,000 Btu/h input, fuel-oil and gasoline piping, solar thermal piping, potable-water irrigation, swimming pools and spas, septic tanks and sewers, and controls not greater than 24 volts. It does not include natural-gas appliances or natural-gas piping.
