A.21 years
B.20 years
C.18 years

B.Category C1 is for commercial haulage only, while Code 95 is for private use
C.Code 95 replaces the need to hold any driving licence

Explanation: Category C1 grants the legal right to drive the vehicle class. Code 95 (CPC) is an additional professional qualification required by transport law to perform commercial road haulage for hire or reward.

B.DMC is determined daily by the driver, while actual mass is fixed on the registration document
C.Actual mass includes cargo only, whereas DMC includes the driver and fuel only
D.DMC applies only when crossing international borders

Poland Category C1 Theory Test: Suggested Study Strategy

1Learn the drivers' hours limits: 4.5 hours of driving then a 45-minute break (or 15 + 30 minutes), 9 hours a day (10 hours twice a week), 56 hours a week and 90 hours in two weeks.
2Remember that since 31 December 2024 drivers must be able to show tachograph records for the current day and the previous 56 days.
3Do not mix up sign B-18 (actual total mass) with sign B-19 (axle load).
4Know the lorry speed limits: 80 km/h on motorways, expressways and dual carriageways with two lanes each way, and 70 km/h on other roads outside built-up areas.
5In a built-up area, switch on the hazard lights when you break down; a triangle is needed only if the vehicle has none.

Motor vehicles with a permissible maximum mass over 3.5 t and up to 7.5 t, other than buses, with a light trailer of up to 750 kg. A heavier trailer needs category C1+E.

What do I need before taking the C1 exam?

You must be at least 18, hold a category B licence, and have a medical certificate and a psychological certificate. You also need a candidate profile (PKK) from the starosta and the driving-school course.

Is category C1 enough to drive a lorry for work?

Usually not. Most drivers who carry goods by road for work also need the professional qualification (Code 95), obtained through the kwalifikacja wstępna course and test and kept up to date with periodic training every 5 years.

In which languages can I take the exam?

WORD offers the C1 theory exam in Polish, English and German, and in Ukrainian since 16 February 2026, as well as with Polish Sign Language.

How much does the exam cost?
