Frequently Asked Questions

What is the INECE EPJA 4º Ano exam?

It is the national final exam for the 4º Ano of the Ensino Primário para Jovens e Adultos (EPJA). INECE has set it nationally since the 2024 school year, so every candidate sits the same papers at the same time.

Which subjects are included in the exam?

Four subjects are examined: Língua Portuguesa, Matemática, Ciências Naturais and Ciências Sociais. Diploma Ministerial n.º 7/2019 also provides for Mozambican-language exams in the bilingual modality, held locally, and there is no exam in Ofícios.

What is the official format and scoring system?

The papers are written in Portuguese. In 2024 each had 7 items worth 20 valores, using open questions, tables, matching and, in Portuguese, a short composition. Under Diploma Ministerial n.º 7/2019 as published, the exam mark counts with the year's marks, and approval needs an exam mark of at least 8 and final averages of at least 10. The regulation has since been revised, so confirm the current rule with your centre.

Is this practice test an official INECE exam?

No. This is an independent English-language multiple-choice study adaptation developed by OpenExamPrep. It is not an official translation or format simulation, and candidates should also practise written answers and composition in Portuguese.

When are the EPJA national examinations held?

They take place at the end of the school year in the same window as the 6ª classe exam: in late November in 2024 and 2025, with a 2ª chamada for justified absences. The 2026 school calendar schedules primary-level final exams between 30 November and 8 December.
