Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Mongolia UEE Mongolian language examination?
It is the Mongolian language subject of Mongolia's national university entrance examination (Элсэлтийн шалгалт, ЭШ; formerly ЭЕШ), set by the Education Evaluation Center (EEC). It covers text analysis, grammar, spelling, literature and the traditional Mongolian script. It is a different exam from the Mongolian Language and Script Examination (МХБШ).
How is the 2026 Mongolian language paper structured?
It lasts 80 minutes and has 44 tasks worth 100 points: 40 five-option selection items in Part 1 (80 points), built around an essay, literary excerpts and a traditional-script text, and 4 matching tasks in Part 2 (20 points).
How important is the traditional script?
Very important: the national script unit carries 25% of the 2026 points, the largest single share. Candidates read a passage in the traditional script and answer questions on its words and meaning.
What score do I need?
There is no pass mark. Scores are standardized to a 200–800 scale with a mean of 500, and each university and program sets its own minimum threshold score (босго оноо).
How much does the exam cost?
EEC's most recent published fee notice (2023) sets the fee at 5,800 MNT per subject. We did not find a separate 2026 fee notice, so check the registration portal when you register.
Why are the explanations in English?
OpenExamPrep publishes one English-language bank per exam. The questions keep Mongolian words, sentences and traditional-script forms where they are the point being tested, but the bank is an independent MCQ study adaptation, not an official translation or a substitute for reading and writing practice in Mongolian.
