About the LCA Spanish Exam
LCA Spanish is the Spanish option within Leaving Certificate Applied Modern Languages. It is designed for basic practical communication — not the same as established Leaving Certificate Spanish. Module 1 Social Relationships develops greetings, introductions, nationality, family, numbers, time, likes and dislikes, and ordering food and drink. Module 2 Travelling and Finding the Way develops survival language for directions, transport, tickets, the 24-hour clock, shopping, supermarket sections, booking accommodation, euro currency and simple bank or phone-card exchanges. Students complete key assignments (for example identity cards, likes/dislikes recordings, menu role-plays, train-ticket role-plays, trip research, phone booking and hotel-sign posters) and sit final oral and written/aural examinations worth 6 credits. This practice bank offers original English-stem multiple-choice items that keep Spanish wording when testing the language itself.
Exam sponsor: State Examinations Commission (SEC), Ireland. The requirements and fees below concern the certification or admission exam, separate from our free practice resources.
Assessment
Two sequenced modules under the NCCA Modern Languages descriptor: Module 1 Social Relationships (Introduction and Greetings; Numbers; Likes/Dislikes; Food and Drink) and Module 2 Travelling and Finding the Way (Travel and Transport; Shopping and Services; Accommodation; Money).
