About the LCA German Exam
LCA German is the German option within Leaving Certificate Applied Modern Languages. It develops basic practical communication for everyday social and travel situations in German-speaking contexts. Module 1 Social Relationships covers greetings and introductions, nationalities and occupations, family vocabulary, numbers, time and dates, likes and dislikes, and ordering food and drink. Module 2 Travelling and Finding the Way builds survival skills for directions, tickets, the 24-hour clock, shops and services, accommodation booking and money/euro language. Assessment includes module key assignments and a final SEC language examination (oral and written/aural) worth 6 credits toward the LCA’s maximum 200-credit Pass, Merit or Distinction award.
