About the UTBK-SNBT TPS Exam

The Tes Potensi Skolastik (TPS) is the scholastic-aptitude component of the UTBK-SNBT, Indonesia's national computer-based admissions test for state universities run by Panitia SNPMB. TPS contains 90 questions across four subtests: Penalaran Umum (30), Pengetahuan dan Pemahaman Umum (20), Pemahaman Bacaan dan Menulis (20) and Pengetahuan Kuantitatif (20), with a 90-minute allocation inside the 195-minute UTBK. It measures reasoning and language/quantitative comprehension rather than rote subject memorisation, using multiple-choice, complex multi-select and short fill-in items with no negative marking under an Item Response Theory (IRT) scoring model. SBMPTN was replaced by UTBK-SNBT in 2023 and the organising body was renamed from LTMPT to SNPMB/BPPP; from SNBT 2026 each candidate may take the UTBK only once. Is there a passing score for the UTBK-SNBT?

No. SNPMB confirms there is no fixed passing grade. The UTBK is scored with Item Response Theory (IRT) on a scale up to roughly 1000 with no penalty for wrong answers, and admission is rank-based against the quota of each program study (prodi). In 2025 the highest S1 score was 819.85.

How much does it cost to take the UTBK-SNBT 2026?

The UTBK-SNBT 2026 registration fee is Rp200,000, covering the whole UTBK (TPS plus Tes Literasi). Eligible holders of KIP-Kuliah are exempt. Payment is made through partner banks such as Mandiri, BNI, BTN, BRI and BSI.

Can I take the UTBK more than once in 2026?

No. From SNBT 2026, each candidate may take the UTBK only once, and the result is valid only for 2026 admissions. This is a change confirmed by SNPMB for the 2026 cycle.

Is the TPS multiple choice and is there negative marking?

The TPS uses selected-response items: multiple choice, complex multi-select (more than one correct statement) and short fill-in; there are no essays. Scoring uses IRT with no minus marking, so leaving questions blank is never better than guessing.
