About the Licencia Clase E (Chile) Exam
The Licencia Especial Clase E authorises the driving of animal-drawn vehicles — carretelas, coches, carrozas and similar — under Article 12 of the Chilean Ley de Tránsito. Article 13 requires an applicant to be at least 18 and to be able to read and write, and Article 14 places the theory and practical examinations with the municipal Departamento de Tránsito y Transporte Público. CONASET publishes the entire question pool in its cuestionario base for Classes A1*, A2*, D and E, which fixes the Clase E paper at 10 questions — 5 on road conduct and 5 on traffic law — with a pass at 7 correct and no more than 2 errors in the legal section. Because a Clase E driver shares the carriageway with fast motor traffic while travelling at walking pace, the syllabus is entirely about road rules, priority, signage and visibility rather than about animal husbandry. The official examination is sat in Spanish and uses three answer options per question. This practice bank is an English-language, four-option MCQ study adaptation of the CONASET curriculum — it is not an official translation, not a simulation of the exam's format, and not a substitute for the practical test.

A 10-question multiple-choice theory test with three options per item, sat once at the municipal Dirección de Tránsito. A pass requires 7 correct answers and no more than 2 errors within the legal and regulatory section. A practical test is also compulsory.

Licencia Clase E (Chile) Study Tips from Top Performers
Frequently Asked Questions
How many questions are on the Chile Clase E theory exam and what is the pass mark?
CONASET's cuestionario base sets the Clase E paper at 10 questions — 5 on Conducta Vial and 5 on Conocimientos legales y reglamentarios. A pass requires 7 correct answers, and in addition no more than 2 of the legal and regulatory questions may be wrong.
What does a Clase E licence allow you to drive?
Article 12 of the Ley de Tránsito defines Clase E as a special licence for driving animal-drawn vehicles such as carretelas, coches and carrozas. It is not a licence for tractors or self-propelled machinery, which fall under Clase D.
Does the Clase E exam test animal care or harness knowledge?
No. The published cuestionario base contains only road-conduct and traffic-law questions; there are no items on animal husbandry, harnessing or cart construction. Animal welfare is regulated separately under Ley 20.380 and by municipal ordinance, but it is not part of this theory paper.
What are the requirements for a Clase E licence?
Article 13 requires the applicant to be at least 18 years old and able to read and write, and it allows that second requirement to be waived for someone who passes a special examination. The medical examination, the moral-fitness check, the theory test and the practical test are all compulsory; a driving school course does not apply.
Is this practice bank the same as the official exam?
No. The official examination is sat in Spanish and uses three answer options per question. This practice bank is an English-language, four-option MCQ study adaptation of the CONASET curriculum — it is not an official translation, not a simulation of the exam's format, and not a substitute for the practical test.
How long does a Clase E licence stay valid?
Article 19 provides that the licence is of indefinite duration and remains valid while its holder continues to meet the legal requirements. Holders of a special licence must re-accredit moral, physical and psychological fitness every 6 years.
