How do the NY Cosmetology vocabulary games work?

There are 4 games built on 20 NY Cosmetology terms. In Guess the Term, a clue describes one term and you have six tries to spell it, with green, yellow and gray letters showing how close you are. In Term Match, six terms appear as colored tiles; swap neighbors to line up three or more of the same term, and each match shows what the term means. In Term Pairs, twelve face-down cards hide six pairs of terms; flip two at a time to find each pair, and every pair you find shows what the term means. In Term Search, five terms hide in a grid of letters, reading across, down or diagonally; drag across a term to circle it, and each term you find shows what it means.

How hard is the New York Cosmetology exam?

The New York Cosmetology exam is considered moderately challenging. Candidates must pass both a multiple-choice written exam based on the 1,000-hour pre-licensing curriculum and a practical exam of about 3½ hours performed on a mannequin. Results are reported only as passed or failed, with no numerical score. Most of the curriculum covers hair services: styling, chemical restructuring, coloring and lightening, and cutting.

What are the two parts of the New York Cosmetology exam?

New York requires (1) a written exam: multiple-choice, based on the pre-licensing curriculum, with 2½ hours allowed; and (2) a practical exam of about 3½ hours on a mannequin covering haircutting, blow-drying, thermal curling, roller placement, permanent waving, pin curls, finger waving, foiling, color retouch, and relaxer application, with infection control throughout. Each is reported as pass or fail.
