Frequently Asked Questions

Is the ME Plumber vocabulary game free?

Yes. The game is free to play with no sign-up. Signing in adds AI explanations for any term.

How do the ME Plumber vocabulary games work?

There are 4 games built on 20 ME Plumber terms. In Guess the Term, a clue describes one term and you have six tries to spell it, with green, yellow and gray letters showing how close you are. In Term Match, six terms appear as colored tiles; swap neighbors to line up three or more of the same term, and each match shows what the term means. In Term Pairs, twelve face-down cards hide six pairs of terms; flip two at a time to find each pair, and every pair you find shows what the term means. In Term Search, five terms hide in a grid of letters, reading across, down or diagonally; drag across a term to circle it, and each term you find shows what it means.

Where do the ME Plumber terms come from?

OpenExamPrep researched each term from the Maine Plumbers' Examining Board content outline and primary sources, listed under Sources on this page. The game is independent study material, not an official exam resource.

How hard is the Maine journeyman plumber exam?

Maine does not publish a pass rate. The exam has 80 closed-book questions in 3 hours and requires 70% to pass, with drainage, waste and sanitary venting (18 questions) and water supply (16 questions) the largest areas.

What plumbing code does Maine use?

Maine enforces the 2021 Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) with state amendments in Board rule 02-395, Chapter 4, effective January 1, 2022; Maine does not adopt the UPC fuel gas chapter. The exam is closed book, and the current Prov bulletin's reference list still names the 2015 UPC and Maine's 2015 UPC plumbing tables, which the proctor provides as a printout.
