About the Master Plumber Exam
The Master Plumber exam tests the code knowledge needed for a master-level plumbing license. ICC's national G24 Master Plumber exam (2018 International Plumbing Code) and F24 National Standard Master Plumber exam (2015 IPC) each have 100 multiple-choice questions in a 4-hour open-book test across seven content areas, led by administration and general regulations at 46%. Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Master Plumber vocabulary game free?
Yes. The game is free to play with no sign-up. Signing in adds AI explanations for any term.
How does the Master Plumber vocabulary game work?
Each round shows a clue for one of 20 Master Plumber terms. Guess the term in six tries: green means the right letter in the right spot, yellow means the letter is in the term but in another spot, and gray means it is not in the term. After the round, read the explanation and play the next term.
Where do the Master Plumber terms come from?
OpenExamPrep researched each term from the PSI / ICC / State Licensing Boards content outline and primary sources, listed under Sources on this page. The game is independent study material, not an official exam resource.
How hard is the Master Plumber exam?
ICC does not publish pass rates for its master plumber exams. The G24 exam has 100 questions in 4 hours, open book, and most ICC contractor/trades exams require 70 percent correct. The time limit leaves no room to look up every answer, so you need to know the code's layout well.
What experience is required to take the Master Plumber exam?
Most states require 2-5 years of documented experience as a licensed journeyman plumber before you are eligible for the master exam. Some states also require proof of completed projects, continuing education credits, or business operation experience. Check with your state licensing board for specific requirements.
