How is the NYSTCE Multi-Subject Childhood test organized?
It consists of three separately scored tests: Part One Literacy and English Language Arts (221), Part Two Mathematics (222), and Part Three Arts and Sciences (245). You must meet the passing standard on each part.
How many items and how much time are provided?
Part One has 40 selected-response items plus one constructed response in 2 hours. Part Two has the same item format in 2 hours 15 minutes. Part Three has 40 selected-response items in 1 hour.
What score is required to pass?
The reported passing score is 520 on each of the three parts. Scores are separate; strong performance on one part does not offset a nonpassing score on another.
How long must a candidate wait before retaking a part?
NYSTCE requires a 30-day wait before retaking Childhood Parts One or Two or the shared Part Three. Candidates must register again for the part they need to repeat.
How are these 50 cards distributed?
