UPCAT 2027 test day: the current answer
Updated August 1, 2026 against the active UP Office of Admissions bulletin and UPCAT 2027 portal.
UPCAT 2027 is being administered on August 1–2, 2026 for first-year admission to AY 2027–2028. If your assigned session has not yet occurred, use the printed test permit—not a friend's schedule or a social-media post—to confirm your test center, date, and session.
The current AY 2027–2028 General Information Bulletin gives these reporting rules:
- 6:30 a.m. session: be at the assigned test center by 6:00 a.m.
- 12:30 p.m. session: be at the assigned test center by 12:00 noon
- Allow about five hours for test administration.
Bring only the printed permit, a school ID or valid government-issued ID, at least two good-quality pencils, a sharpener, a rubber eraser, water, and snacks. The use of cellphones, smartwatches, calculating devices, and cameras during the test is strictly prohibited.
The process continues immediately afterward. From August 3 through August 24, 2026, the applicant must update and resubmit Form 1 and submit Form 2B; the Grade 12 school must complete Form 2A; and UP must receive the required certified hard-copy school record.
Use the right source when UP pages differ
There is a live conflict between two official pages. The general UPCAT homepage says morning examinees should be there by 6:30 a.m., while the cycle-specific AY 2027–2028 bulletin says 6:00 a.m. and separately identifies 6:30 a.m. as the session time.
For this cycle, use this order:
- Follow any applicant- or center-specific instruction printed on the permit.
- Use the AY 2027–2028 bulletin for the current cycle's general rules.
- Treat an older or generic homepage instruction as secondary when it conflicts.
- Contact the UPCAT 2027 Online Helpdesk if the permit and cycle bulletin themselves appear inconsistent.
The same hierarchy explains why this checklist includes water and separately names smartwatches in the device restriction: the shorter generic homepage omits both details.
Confirm that this is your application cycle
The original application stage is closed. UPCAT 2027 was open to Grade 11 students in AY 2025–2026 who expect to finish Grade 12 by the end of AY 2026–2027, and to senior high school graduates. Applicants must have complete Grades 8–11 by the grade-submission deadline.
The official eligibility rules also say an applicant must not have:
- taken college or other post-secondary courses, including diploma or associate programs, after senior high school graduation;
- previously taken the UPCAT; or
- had a UP college application processed during the years when UP did not administer UPCAT.
A released permit does not authorize changing these facts. Keep the application accurate. The portal says not to create duplicate accounts and not to withdraw an application to correct information; use the helpdesk instead.
For the broader application and eligibility workflow, use the UPCAT admission guide. This page focuses on applicants who already have a 2027 test permit.
Audit the printed permit
UP says the permit is released through the application portal and must be printed for presentation and submission to test personnel. A phone screenshot is not the printed copy requested by the bulletin.
Read the permit from top to bottom and confirm:
| Permit field | Decision it controls |
|---|---|
| Date | August 1 or August 2; the applicant does not select a different day |
| Session | 6:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m.; convert it to the earlier reporting time |
| Test center | Travel to this exact assigned center, not a preferred campus or a friend's center |
| Printed instructions | Follow any center-specific entry, identification, or handling direction |
Print a clean, readable copy and protect it from damage. Do not guess what an unfamiliar blank, box, arrow, or signature area means; follow the printed direction or wait for test personnel to instruct you.
If the permit is missing, inaccessible, or appears incorrect, contact the official helpdesk immediately. Do not create another account. The portal warns that multiple accounts can delay processing and may prevent release of a permit.
Build the route backward from reporting time
The session time is not the arrival target. Plan backward from 6:00 a.m. or 12:00 noon.
Before leaving:
- Locate the exact test center and the entrance named on the permit.
- Add time for queues, rain, parking, public-transport delays, and navigating a large campus.
- Give the driver or accompanying adult the route without depending on the examinee's phone.
- Agree on a pickup location and a flexible time window.
- Keep the permit, identification, and supplies together in one final-check location.
Do not promise a driver an exact dismissal minute by adding five hours to the session time. UP says administration lasts “about” five hours; seating, instructions, collection, and center procedures may affect release.
Pack only the current official list
| Item | Official instruction | Low-risk preparation |
|---|---|---|
| Test permit | Printed; presented and submitted | Print clearly and read every instruction |
| Identification | School ID or valid government-issued ID | Check that the card is legible and belongs to the applicant |
| Pencils | At least two good-quality pencils | Sharpen them and pack a spare |
| Sharpener | Bring one | Use a simple sharpener that does not require power |
| Eraser | Rubber eraser | Use one that erases cleanly |
| Water | Included in the current bulletin | Use a securely closed container |
| Snacks | Included in the current bulletin | Choose familiar food that is easy to manage |
The bulletin says “bring only.” It does not list a calculator, scratch paper, formula sheet, reviewer, ruler, or dictionary. The use of calculating devices is expressly prohibited during the test.
Electronic devices
The exact official restriction is on the use of cellphones, smartwatches, calculating devices, and cameras during the test. The bulletin does not publish a universal storage or bag-check procedure. It also does not say that silent mode, airplane mode, or keeping a device in a bag makes its use acceptable.
The lowest-risk choice is not to bring a prohibited device into the testing process unless the permit or assigned center provides handling instructions. If a phone is essential for travel or safety outside the center, obtain official guidance on how it must be secured. Do not improvise at the desk.
An analog watch, mechanical pencil, jacket, medicine, or bag may appear in old advice, but none belongs on the current bulletin's bring-only list. For a medical, disability, or essential-item need, seek case-specific instructions rather than relying on a former examinee's experience.
Know the four subtests—without inventing a blueprint
UP publishes four subtests:
- Language Proficiency, in English and Filipino
- Science
- Mathematics
- Reading Comprehension, in English and Filipino
UP does not publish an exact total item count, per-subtest counts, section time limits, a detailed topic blueprint, or a live raw-score passing mark in the current 2027 bulletin. It also does not publish a wrong-answer deduction formula there. Read the actual booklet and proctor directions; do not import a “right-minus-one-fourth-wrong” strategy from an unofficial post.
What UP actually says about UPG and ranking
A test-day feeling or reviewer percentage cannot determine admission. UP says standardized UPCAT scores are combined with the composite of final Grades 8, 9, 10, and 11 to determine the University Predicted Grade, or UPG. Socioeconomic and geographic considerations also enter the admissions process.
The public selection description says:
- campus selection depends on applicant rank plus campus quotas and/or cut-off grades;
- successful applicants within a campus are ranked using grade predictors and degree-program quotas;
- demand differs among programs; and
- some programs require a second screening.
UP does not publish the exact UPCAT-versus-school-grade percentage weights or a universal 2027 campus or program cutoff in the current bulletin. Its published 2.800 UPG threshold concerns access to DIWA appeals after an applicant receives no offer; it is not a test passing score, a guaranteed admission cutoff, or a target that predicts a particular campus.
Follow room instructions exactly
The public bulletin does not describe every room, booklet, break, or answer-sheet procedure. Listen to the assigned test personnel and follow the current materials.
Four habits do not depend on an invented scoring rule:
- Read the directions for the current subtest.
- Match every item number to the same number on the answer sheet.
- Make clean marks with the required pencil and erase completely when changing an answer.
- Obey all start, stop, section, device, and collection instructions.
Do not continue after staff say stop, work in a different section without permission, or reproduce secure test content afterward.
If a serious problem occurs
The active portal says applications of people unable to take the test will no longer be processed. UP has not published a universal make-up schedule for this administration. Do not assume illness, lateness, transport failure, or a missing permit automatically creates another testing date.
Contact the Office of Admissions or online helpdesk as soon as safely possible. Include enough application information to identify the case, the assigned date and center, and a concise description of the problem. Save the ticket or correspondence. A request does not guarantee an exception; it lets UP decide the applicable rule.
For weather, safety, or a center-specific disruption, check the permit, portal, email, UPCAT website, and UP Office of Admissions Facebook page. Verify an original UP notice before changing travel plans.
August 3–24: finish the application
Taking the test does not make the file complete. Use this sequence.
Applicant: update Form 1 and submit Form 2B
Return to the UPCAT 2027 portal, update Form 1, enter the complete Grades 8–11 record in Form 2B, triple-check both forms, and click Submit Forms 1 and 2B. Saving a form is not the same as completing the final submission.
Keep access to the same personal email and portal credentials. UP says results will be released within the first half of 2027 through the application system and official announcements.
Grade 12 school: Form 2A and confirmation
After the applicant updates or saves Form 1, the portal contacts the Grade 12 senior high school. Only an authorized school official may access Form 2A, update the school profile, and confirm the applicant by August 24. Applicants must not sign up for or log in to the Form 2A portal.
If the school does not receive the request or no longer controls the listed email, coordinate with the school and use the official portal instructions for an email update. Do this early enough for the school to finish by the deadline.
Hard copy: certified Grades 8–11
UP requires a certified true copy—not the original—of the permanent secondary school record, SF-10 or Form 137, containing complete Grades 8, 9, 10, and 11.
Each sheet must carry the wet signature, preferably in blue ink, over the printed name and designation of an authorized school official. Put Grade 8 first and Grade 11 last. Seal the documents in an envelope bearing a school official's wet signature across the flap. If the applicant transferred schools, the Grade 12 school official certifies and signs the records.
The applicant, a representative, or a school official may deliver or courier the packet to:
UP Office of Admissions
T.M. Kalaw corner Quirino Street
UP Diliman, Quezon City 1101
Keep delivery evidence. Do not submit the original because UP says it will not be returned. The bulletin warns that applications lacking the required hard-copy certified grades will not be processed.
Check category-specific documents
The all-applicant checklist may not be the whole packet.
| Applicant category | Additional August 3–24 requirement |
|---|---|
| Senior high school graduate | Diploma photocopy and affidavit of non-enrollment in college |
| Graduating in 2026 from a local SHS | DepEd recognition certificate or permit to operate, submitted by the school |
| ALS or PEPT applicant | Certified AF-5 or Certificate of Rating |
| Filipino citizen born overseas | One of the listed immigration, passport, or passport-plus-birth-certificate options, using both required channels |
| Gap year during junior or senior high school | Affidavit describing the gap years, reason, and activities |
| Indigenous Cultural Community member | The applicable NCIP/NCMF confirmation or tribal-membership certificate |
Use the exact category row in the live bulletin. Do not copy a classmate's packet.
Final control sheet
Before leaving home:
- Permit is printed and matches the assigned date, session, and test center.
- Route targets 6:00 a.m. for a 6:30 session or noon for a 12:30 session.
- School ID or valid government-issued ID is packed.
- At least two pencils, sharpener, rubber eraser, water, and snacks are packed.
- Non-listed aids and prohibited devices have been removed or resolved through official instructions.
- Driver or guardian knows the center and flexible pickup plan.
At the center:
- Report to the exact location on the permit.
- Follow test personnel, the booklet, and answer-sheet directions.
- Keep item and answer numbers aligned.
- Comply with all timing, section, device, and collection rules.
- Do not share secure test content.
From August 3 through August 24:
- Submit the updated Form 1 and completed Form 2B.
- Confirm the Grade 12 school completes Form 2A.
- Deliver the signed, sealed certified true copy of Grades 8–11.
- Include every additional document required for the applicant's category.
- Preserve portal credentials, confirmations, and delivery evidence.
The permit controls where and when you report. The cycle-specific bulletin controls what you bring. The August document stage determines whether the completed test becomes a processable application.
