Can You Take the Kent Test Exam?
Check if you meet the basic eligibility requirements
- •Registration for the 2026 test opened on Monday 1 June 2026 and closed on Wednesday 1 July 2026; requests for access arrangements were not accepted after 1 July 2026.
- •Registration is open to parents of children resident in England, plus children of UK service personnel with a confirmed UK posting and Crown Servants returning from overseas.
- •Pupils at a Kent primary school sat the test on Thursday 10 September 2026; pupils who do not attend a Kent primary school sat it over the weekend of 12 and 13 September 2026, with results on Thursday 15 October 2026.

English section of the English & Maths booklet: a 5-minute practice then a 25-minute test. Reading comprehension, word meaning in context, choosing the best word to complete a sentence, and spotting the mistake in a sentence. Produces one of the three standardised scores.
Maths section of the English & Maths booklet: a 5-minute practice then a 25-minute test, no calculator. Covers topics taught in most schools up to the start of Year 6, with a small number of harder application questions. Produces one of the three standardised scores.
The Reasoning booklet takes about an hour and has three sections. Verbal reasoning has a 10-minute timed practice and a 20-minute test. Non-verbal and spatial reasoning are split into subtests of 4 to 5 minutes each. All three sections combine into a single reasoning standardised score.
