Can You Take the CSVT Exam?
Check if you meet the basic eligibility requirements
- •An active application for a Civil Service vacancy that uses the Verbal Test.
- •A device with a modern browser and a stable internet connection.
- •Candidates needing reasonable adjustments (for example an in-person reader or a paper-based alternative) should say so on the Civil Service Jobs application form, or contact the named contact in the job advert.

Retake Policy
If you do not pass at the minimum required standard, no score is banked and you can retake the test on any future application — there is no waiting period. If you do pass, Civil Service Jobs checks for an applicable banked score when you next apply and will not invite you to re-sit within the same grade level group while that score remains valid; you cannot opt out of a valid banked score to try for a higher mark.
