Can You Take the NZ WoF Inspector Exam?

Check if you meet the basic eligibility requirements

Education
Accepted Level 4 automotive qualification; or specified Level 3 qualification plus at least 3 years of relevant experience; equivalent qualifications may be considered.
Experience
Experience-only pathway: at least 4 years of full-time repair and maintenance work covering light-vehicle safety systems.
Additional Requirements
  • •Hold the current and correct class of driver licence for vehicles to be inspected and comply with its conditions
  • •Complete suitable in-house or external training before the theory and practical tests
  • •Pass NZTA fit-and-proper assessment, which may include criminal, traffic-offence, fine and debt checks
  • •Pass the 28-question open-book theory test and the practical assessment using a suitable vehicle arranged by the applicant
