13.4 Construction Sites, Appliance Testing & Special Installations

Not every installation is a quiet domestic switchboard. Construction sites, hired tools, second-hand gear, hospitals, marinas, caravans, hazardous areas, and solar inverters each pull companion standards. On the regulations prescription these are often C- or B-level awareness items: know when they apply, what risk they address, and how Schedule 2 points you there—not every clause of every specialty book.

AS/NZS 3012 — construction and demolition sites

Regulation 90: Testing Appliances After Work

Before the in-service testing regime, know the duty that sits directly on you whenever an appliance passes through your hands. Regulation 90(1) applies if you have done any prescribed electrical work on an appliance, or any work on it that may affect its electrical safety. Before releasing it from your control, regulation 90(2) requires you to test it and then either:
