JNCIA-Junos Juniper Certifications License: Complete Roadmap
Follow this path to maximize your chances of passing on the first try
Refresh Core NetworkingYou are here
Start with Ethernet, broadcast and collision domains, IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, subnetting, binary conversion, and longest-prefix match so Junos-specific questions do not get blocked by general networking gaps.
Learn Junos Architecture and CLI Workflow
Understand the routing engine, packet forwarding engine, transit versus exception traffic, and the difference between operational and configuration mode. Practice moving through the hierarchy, using help, filtering output, and comparing candidate versus active config.
Master Basic Configuration Tasks
Practice initial setup, interface configuration, user accounts, login classes, authentication methods, configuration groups, NTP, SNMP, syslog, archival, tracing, rescue configuration, and commit-confirmed workflow.
Practice Monitoring and Maintenance
Use `show` and `monitor` commands, interpret interface counters and errors, run ping and traceroute from the device, and review upgrade, reboot, shutdown, and root-password recovery procedures.
Study Routing and Route Selection
Cover routing versus forwarding tables, route preference, static routes, routing instances, and the basic reasons dynamic routing protocols are used even though detailed protocol configuration is not the focus of JNCIA-Junos.
Finish with Policy and Filters
Work through import and export policy logic, policy terms, match conditions, actions, firewall filter structure, packet impact, and unicast RPF. This is where many candidates need repeated syntax review.
Complete All 200 Practice Questions
Take the four question sets in order, review missed items by domain, and retest until Junos CLI behavior and policy logic feel automatic rather than memorized.
