At least three-quarters of the paper covers general internal medicine across cardiology, respiratory, gastroenterology and hepatology, nephrology, endocrinology, rheumatology, haematology, oncology, infectious diseases, neurology, dermatology, geriatric medicine and acute care, focusing on common and important hospital diseases.
Drug mechanisms, indications, adverse effects, interactions, pharmacokinetics, antidotes and evidence-based prescribing relevant to general medicine.
Physiology, biochemistry, immunology, genetics, microbiology and anatomy as applied to clinical medicine, framed where appropriate around a clinical stem.
Elementary biostatistics and evidence-based medicine (sensitivity, specificity, predictive values, study design, measures of effect) and core principles of clinical ethics and consent.
