DAA UK Armed Forces Aptitude Tests License: Complete Roadmap
Follow this path to maximize your chances of passing on the first try
Phase 1: Map the DAAYou are here
Confirm the six sections, individual section timers, the 14-day portal window, single-sitting rule and the role-specific scores your chosen branch requires.
Phase 2: Verbal and Numerical Reasoning
Drill passage-based verbal logic and vocabulary, then arithmetic, percentages, ratios, averages and data interpretation under time.
Phase 3: Work Rate and Spatial Reasoning
Practice fast coding and pattern matching, then 2D/3D rotation, reflection, nets and symmetry questions.
Phase 4: Mechanical and Electrical Comprehension
Study levers, gears, pulleys and forces, then circuits, Ohm's law, power, batteries and series/parallel arrangements.
Phase 5: Memory and Recollection
Train short-term recall of letter/number sequences and grid patterns using chunking and position-tracking strategies.
Phase 6: Timed Full Practice
Run mixed timed sets across all sections, review weak areas, and confirm device and AFCO logistics before sitting the real DAA.

Exam Content Breakdown
Based on the official UK Ministry of Defence (Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Royal Air Force) content outline
Reading short passages and evaluating written information, including logical deduction, fact extraction, synonyms, antonyms and analogies under a tight timer.
Using and interpreting numerical information — arithmetic, percentages, fractions, ratios, averages, speed-distance-time and data interpretation from tables and charts.
Solving simple problems quickly and accurately, including coding, pattern matching and rate calculations against very short time limits.
Working with 2D and 3D shapes — rotation, reflection (mirror images), nets, symmetry and visualising shapes from different angles.
Applying mechanical principles such as levers and moments, gears, pulleys, simple machines, forces and fluids to practical problems.
Understanding electrical concepts including circuits, batteries, switches, conductors and insulators, Ohm's law, power and series/parallel arrangements.
Recalling briefly shown sequences of letters or numbers and patterns of highlighted squares on a grid, testing short-term memory of order and position.
