Why the Midline Is the Whole Game

Timing the Breath
The general rule under load: breathe at the top of the rep or between reps, not in the middle of one.
- Deadlift: breathe and brace at the top, hold through the descent and ascent, exhale at lockout, re-brace before the next rep.
- Squat: brace at the top before descending, hold through the bottom, exhale after passing the sticking point on the way up.
