CASAS reports a vertical scale score (roughly 150–260) that programs map to NRS Educational Functioning Levels (EFLs) 1–6; Reading and Math GOALS 2 use different cut scores (e.g., Reading GOALS 2 Beginning ABE Literacy is 203 and below; Math GOALS 2 Beginning ABE Literacy is 192 and below)

Basic CommunicationReading GOALS 2: 43% of Level A items; not tested at Levels B–E

Reading short notes, messages and simple personal information at the beginning literacy level (CASAS Competency 0.1).

Consumer EconomicsReading GOALS 2: 12–22% at Levels A–C, none at D–E; Math GOALS 2: 20–46% at every level

Money and measurement, shopping and price comparison, household finances, housing, and consumer protection.

Community ResourcesReading GOALS 2: 11–31%; Math GOALS 2: 9–29%

Transportation and travel information, time and weather, community agencies and services, leisure resources, and education services.
