A day is defined as at least seven hours, which may be a single day or accumulated hours. This is not “years employed at a company that does NDT somewhere”—it is method-relevant NDT work at a Level II or equivalent responsibility level for the methods on your application.

Documentation you will upload

Education: digital diplomas/transcripts if you claim post-secondary education.

Experience: signed employer documentation showing Level II (or equivalent) experience per method. Acceptable forms can include inspection logbooks, inspection reports, employer/third-party certification records, or HR records—signed by the employer—and must state qualification level or Level II job duties and days at Level II/comparable responsibility.

Self-employed: signed statements from at least two customers.

Not accepted (per ASNT’s published list): certificates of training alone, non-employer-issued qualifications, Level I certificates as proof of Level II experience.

Documents must be in English or accompanied by an English translation. If records older than 10 years are inaccessible, ASNT describes a signed attestation pathway—provide as much verifiable detail as possible.

Application Workflow (MyCert)

All applications are online through MyCert, integrated with MyASNT (same login ecosystem).

1. Create/update your account and profile accuracy (name must match IDs later).
2. Complete the NDT Level III application for Basic and/or Method(s) as appropriate.
3. Enter education and experience; upload supporting files.

Once approved:

• Schedule through your MyCert exam profile.

• You must schedule and complete the examinations you applied for within one year of the Letter of Approval.
