Study CPT and ICD-10-CM coding basics, insurance types (HMO, PPO, Medicare), claim forms (CMS-1500), scheduling methods, and medical records management.
Phase 3 — General & Legal/Ethics
Review HIPAA Privacy Rule, advance directives, mandatory reporting, informed consent, ADA, medical law (negligence, res ipsa loquitur), and therapeutic communication techniques.
Phase 4 — Full-Length Practice & Review
Complete timed 200-question simulations in four 40-minute segments. Analyze domain-level performance and drill weak areas. Review pharmacology and emergency protocols last.
Can You Take the CMA (AAMA) Exam?

- •Recertify every 60 months: 60 CEUs (30 from AAMA-approved sources, minimum 10 each in administrative, clinical, and general) or retake the exam
- •Alternative pathway available for graduates of non-CAAHEP/ABHES programs meeting specific criteria
