About the FRCR Part 2A (Oncology) Exam
FRCR Part 2A (Oncology), the Final FRCR Part A examination, tests intermediate clinical oncology knowledge and judgement across common and important tumour sites. It assesses investigation, staging, differential diagnosis, treatment selection, toxicity recognition, oncological emergencies, imaging interpretation and management planning.

Paper 2 covers breast, lower gastrointestinal, upper gastrointestinal, haematology, miscellaneous, and radiology/imaging. It is a synoptic assessment blueprinted against the clinical oncology curriculum and disease incidence.

CO2A comprises two Final FRCR Part A single best answer papers, each with 120 questions and a 3-hour session.
Respiratory to Gynaecology
Paper 1 includes respiratory, urology, head and neck, skin, CNS and gynaecology, with 24 questions each for respiratory, urology, head and neck and gynaecology, and 12 each for skin and CNS.
Breast to Imaging
Paper 2 includes breast 24, lower GI 24, upper GI 16, haematology 8, miscellaneous 36, and radiology/imaging 12 questions.
February and August 2026 Sittings
RCR lists Paper 1 and Paper 2 on Thursday 12 February 2026 with results Thursday 5 March 2026, and on Thursday 27 August 2026 with results Thursday 17 September 2026.
