1Which vehicles belong to Slovak driving-licence group D under Act No. 8/2009 Z. z.?
A.Vehicles for up to 16 passengers that are no longer than 8 m
B.Any motor vehicle over 7,500 kg, whatever it carries
C.Vehicles for more than 8 passengers, trailer up to 750 kg
D.Buses with a trailer of any maximum authorised mass
Explanation: Section 75(15) of Act No. 8/2009 puts into group D motor vehicles designed and built to carry more than 8 persons besides the driver; a trailer up to 750 kg may be attached. Heavier trailers need group DE.
2What must an applicant already hold to be granted Slovak group D, and which other groups does D cover?
A.Group B; D also covers D1 and T
B.Group C; D also covers groups C and CE
C.Group D1E; D also covers group BE
D.No earlier group; D covers only buses of group D
Explanation: Section 76(15) of Act No. 8/2009 allows group D to be granted only to a holder of group B and says that D also entitles the holder to drive groups D1 and T.
3An applicant is 22 years old. Under what condition can the Slovak authorities grant group D at that age?
A.Never, because the minimum age for group D is always 24
B.If the applicant has already held group C for one year
C.If the applicant will drive buses only at night
D.After completing the basic qualification course
Explanation: The general minimum age for group D is 24 (§ 78(1)(f)), but § 78(8) allows D and DE from 21 for applicants who completed the basic qualification course or hold a driver qualification card for D1 or D1E. Until 24 such a holder may drive D vehicles only with a driver qualification card.
4You drive a coach on an international trip. How many passengers may you carry if the registration certificate lists only seats?
A.The seats plus up to 10 standing passengers
B.Any number, if the trip is shorter than 50 km
C.No more than the seats listed
D.The seats plus one guide standing in the aisle
Explanation: Under the MV SR question pool, in school transport, national occasional transport and international transport the number of passengers must not exceed the seats listed in the registration certificate. This does not apply to vehicles whose registration certificate lists places for standing passengers.
5Who must verbally inform passengers on a coach that they are obliged to wear seat belts?
A.Nobody; stickers inside the coach are enough
B.Only the travel agency, at the time of booking
C.Only police officers, during roadside checks
D.The driver or the group escort
Explanation: Under the MV SR question pool, the driver of the vehicle or the escort of the group is obliged to tell passengers verbally that seat belts must be used during the journey.
6Your bus carries schoolchildren. What must you use while they get on and off?
A.The rear fog lamp
B.The horn, sounded at short intervals
C.The hazard warning lights
D.Only the interior passenger lights
Explanation: Section 47(2) of Act No. 8/2009 requires the driver of a bus carrying children or persons with disabilities to use the device for hazard warning (all direction indicators flashing) while they board and alight.
7You drive a bus out of a reserved bus lane into the adjacent lane. What does § 12(3) of Act No. 8/2009 say?
A.You must give way to every vehicle in the adjacent lane
B.Neither driver has priority; the faster one goes first
C.You may move across without signalling, as buses have priority
D.Drivers in that lane must give way; you signal and must not endanger them
Explanation: Under § 12(3), when a bus or trolleybus leaves a reserved lane for the adjacent lane, the driver in that lane must give way to it. The bus driver must still signal the change of direction and must not endanger other drivers.
8Special light signals control traffic in a reserved bus lane at an intersection. Who must follow them?
A.Only drivers in the reserved lane
B.All drivers waiting at the intersection
C.Only taxi drivers using the lane
D.Nobody, whenever the ordinary signals show green
Explanation: Section 12(5) of Act No. 8/2009 says that if traffic in a reserved lane is controlled by special light signals, only the driver travelling in that lane follows them. Drivers in other lanes follow their own signals.
9Which other vehicles may drive in a reserved lane for buses or trolleybuses?
A.Any passenger car carrying three or more occupants
B.Marked taxis, and marked D/DE training vehicles
C.All vehicles over 3.5 t maximum authorised mass
D.Motorcycles at any time of day
Explanation: Section 12(6) of Act No. 8/2009 allows properly marked taxis and marked driving-school vehicles of groups D and DE during training or tests to use a reserved bus lane. They must not slow the vehicles the lane is meant for.
10May a private car stop in a reserved bus lane to let a passenger out?
A.Yes, for up to two minutes
B.Yes, if the hazard lights are switched on
C.No; only the lane's intended vehicles may stop there
D.Yes, outside the morning and evening peak hours
Explanation: Section 25(1)(j) of Act No. 8/2009 prohibits stopping and standing in a reserved lane, except for the vehicle the lane is intended for and only if it is not an inner lane. A bus may use it, for example, at a stop.

About the Slovakia Theory Test D Exam

Group D covers motor vehicles built to carry more than 8 passengers besides the driver, with a trailer up to 750 kg. It can be granted only to a group B holder, normally from age 24 (from 21 after the basic qualification course). Applicants take an electronic theory test before the driving test: 40 random questions in 30 minutes, three answer choices each, and a pass mark of 90 out of 100 points (Decree 9/2009 § 18). For group D the test includes a question on the driver's responsibility for passengers and a working-time question. The test is offered in Slovak, English and Hungarian. This independent OpenExamPrep bank has 80 original English four-option questions, two for each official question slot, written from Act 8/2009, Decree 30/2020, Regulation (EC) No 561/2006 and the MV SR pool. It is a study aid, not the official question pool or an exam simulation.

Exam sponsor: Policajný zbor (Police Force of the Slovak Republic) through its traffic inspectorates, with exam commissioners; questions are prepared by the Ministry of Interior (MV SR). Assessment

The proficiency exam for group D starts with an electronic theory test and continues with a driving test (closed area, then road traffic). The test is available in Slovak, English and Hungarian. Official questions have three answer choices; this independent bank uses four-option questions.
