1Which vehicle combination belongs to Slovak driving-licence group BE under Act No. 8/2009 Z. z.?
A.A group B towing vehicle with a trailer whose maximum authorised mass does not exceed 3,500 kg
B.A group B towing vehicle with a trailer of any mass, provided the combination is under 7.5 m long
C.A group C1 towing vehicle with a trailer whose maximum authorised mass exceeds 750 kg
D.A tractor of group T with a trailer whose maximum authorised mass exceeds 750 kg
Explanation: Section 75(8) of Act No. 8/2009 defines group BE as a combination of a group B towing vehicle and a trailer whose maximum authorised mass does not exceed 3,500 kg. The trailer limit, not the length, defines the group.
2A car with a maximum authorised mass of 2,000 kg will tow a trailer of 1,800 kg maximum authorised mass (combination 3,800 kg). Which Slovak entitlement allows the driver to tow it?
A.Plain group B, because the trailer exceeds 750 kg
B.Only group C1E, because the combination exceeds 3,500 kg
C.Group B with harmonised code 96, or group BE
D.Group B, provided the trailer has an overrun brake
Explanation: Group B covers a trailer over 750 kg only while the combination does not exceed 3,500 kg; a combination over 3,500 kg and up to 4,250 kg needs group B with harmonised code 96, granted after special training or a special driving test (§ 75(7)(b) and § 76(7)). Group BE also covers it because the trailer is under 3,500 kg.
3Which condition must an applicant meet before the Slovak authorities can grant group BE?
A.The applicant must already hold group B
B.The applicant must already hold group C1
C.The applicant must have held group B for at least three years
D.The applicant must hold a driver qualification card
Explanation: Section 76(8) of Act No. 8/2009 allows group BE to be granted only to an applicant who already holds group B. The minimum age for BE is 18 under § 78(1)(d).
4Outside a municipality, on a road with three marked lanes in your direction, you drive a car-and-trailer combination 9 m long. Which lane may you use to overtake?
A.Any lane, as long as you return to the right lane promptly
B.Only the second lane from the right edge of the roadway
C.Only the leftmost lane, which is reserved for overtaking
D.No lane, because combinations over 7 m may not overtake there
Explanation: Under § 10(2) of Act No. 8/2009, outside a municipality on a road with three or more lanes in one direction, the driver of a combination longer than 7 m may overtake only in the second lane from the right edge. Other lanes may be used only for passing obstacles, turning around or turning.
5Inside a municipality, on a road with two marked lanes in your direction, how should a driver of a combination longer than 7 m use the lanes?
A.Any lane may be used freely, exactly as for passenger cars in town
B.Only the left lane, to leave the right lane for buses
C.The right lane, others only to pass, overtake or turn
D.Either lane, but only at speeds below 30 km/h
Explanation: In a municipality most drivers may use any lane, but § 10(3) excludes combinations longer than 7 m. Their drivers follow the out-of-town rule: drive in the right lane and use other lanes only when passing an obstacle, overtaking, turning around or turning.
6What does Slovak law require of a driver of a vehicle combination when driving down a slope?
A.To descend in neutral only on gentle slopes
B.To use a gear only if the trailer has no brakes
C.To descend always with a gear engaged
D.To descend with a gear engaged only on motorways
Explanation: Section 5(4) of Act No. 8/2009 requires drivers of vehicles over 3,500 kg, of vehicle combinations and of special motor vehicles to drive downhill always with a gear engaged. Other drivers must do so when safety requires it.
7You tow a caravan to a campsite. May your children ride inside the caravan while you drive on the road?
A.Yes, if they sit on seats fitted with safety belts
B.Yes, if an adult accompanies them in the caravan
C.Yes, but only inside a municipality at up to 50 km/h
D.No, persons may not ride in such a trailer
Explanation: Section 46(3) of Act No. 8/2009 prohibits carrying persons in any trailer other than one designed to carry persons, apart from the tractor-trailer exception in § 49. A caravan is built for accommodation, not for carrying passengers while moving.
8While towing a loaded trailer, you see a broken-down car whose driver asks for a tow. What does Slovak law say?
A.You may tow it if you keep to 40 km/h
B.You may tow it only on roads outside municipalities
C.You may tow it if the trailer is unloaded first
D.You must not tow it while your trailer is attached
Explanation: Section 34(5) of Act No. 8/2009 states that no other motor vehicle may be towed behind a motor vehicle with a trailer. The rule is absolute; speed, road type or load do not change it.
9Which statement about towing a disabled motor vehicle is correct under Slovak law?
A.A motor vehicle with a trailer may be towed if both have working brakes
B.A vehicle with a semi-trailer may be towed; one with a trailer may not
C.Two motor vehicles may be towed in a row if a rigid bar joins them
D.A motor vehicle with a trailer may be towed only by a vehicle over 3,500 kg
Explanation: Section 34(5) prohibits towing several motor vehicles and towing a motor vehicle with a trailer, but expressly allows towing a motor vehicle with a semi-trailer. A towed vehicle also needs effective steering and brakes under § 34(2).
10On a motorway, what minimum safe gap must the driver of a category M1 car towing a trailer keep behind the vehicle ahead?
A.The distance the vehicle covers in one second
B.The distance the vehicle covers in two seconds
C.The distance the vehicle covers in three seconds
D.A fixed 100 m whatever the speed
Explanation: Section 35(5) of Act No. 8/2009 sets the motorway minimum as the distance covered in three seconds for M3, N2 and N3 vehicles and in two seconds for other motor vehicles. An M1 car stays in the two-second group even with a trailer, though more distance is safer.

About the Slovakia Theory Test BE Exam

Group BE covers a group B towing vehicle with a trailer whose maximum authorised mass does not exceed 3,500 kg, and it can be granted only to a group B holder aged 18 or over. Applicants take an electronic theory test before the driving test: 40 random questions in 30 minutes, three answer choices each, and a pass mark of 90 out of 100 points (Decree 9/2009 § 18). The test is offered in Slovak, English and Hungarian. The MV SR question pool marks which questions apply to group BE, including rules for vehicle combinations, lane use for long combinations and wheel chocks. This independent OpenExamPrep bank has 80 original English four-option questions, two for each official question slot, written from Act 8/2009, Decree 30/2020 and the MV SR pool. It is a study aid, not the official question pool or an exam simulation.
