1How does ZPrCP define a single-track vehicle (enosledno vozilo)?
A.A vehicle with exactly two wheels, whatever the width of its track
B.A vehicle whose engine capacity does not exceed 125 cm³
C.A vehicle whose track is not wider than 50 cm
D.Any vehicle that is allowed to use cycle lanes and cycle paths
Explanation: ZPrCP Article 3 defines a single-track vehicle as one whose track is not wider than 50 cm, and a two-track vehicle as one whose track is wider than 50 cm. Several rules depend on this, such as the exception allowing single-track vehicles to pass a stationary queue on the right.
2During a roadside check, what must a rider do at an authorised officer's request?
A.Hand over the documents and allow the motorcycle, its equipment and load to be inspected
B.Show documents only after the officer explains the reason for the check in writing
C.Allow only a document check, because vehicles may be inspected only at an authorised technical-inspection station
D.Present the helmet's approval certificate instead of the vehicle registration certificate
Explanation: ZPrCP Article 16 requires the driver to hand the prescribed documents to an authorised officer on request, to allow the vehicle, equipment, devices and load to be inspected and to cooperate. If the vehicle or driver does not meet the conditions, the driver must remove the vehicle as ordered.
3A 26-year-old has held an A1 licence for six years and now passes the Category A2 exam. Is this rider a novice driver?
A.No, because the first licence of any category was obtained more than two years ago and novice status has already ended
B.No, because novice status applies only to riders under 21
C.Yes, but only for the first year after the A2 exam
D.Yes, for two years after first obtaining A2
Explanation: ZVoz-1 treats as a novice driver anyone for two years after first obtaining a licence for category A2, A or B, even if they already held a licence for AM, A1, B1, F or G. This rider is therefore a novice for two years after obtaining A2, with zero alcohol tolerance and the lower penalty-point threshold.
4A rider has collected six penalty points for speeding offences. What does ZVoz-1 allow this rider to do?
A.Nothing; penalty points can only expire over time
B.Take the safe-driving programme to delete four points
C.Pay an administrative fee to the AVP, which then cancels all points recorded in the national register
D.Retake the theory test so that all points are deleted
Explanation: Under ZVoz-1, a licence holder who has reached at least four penalty points (and not more than 17) may attend the safe-driving programme; four points are then deleted, at most once every two years. This does not apply to points imposed for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
5A 20-year-old has held an A2 licence for two and a half years. Which alcohol limit applies when this rider rides?
A.No alcohol at all, because riders under 21 are novice drivers
B.0.50 g/kg, because the two-year novice period has already ended
C.0.30 g/kg as a transitional limit for young riders
D.0.24 g/kg in blood, the special limit for motorcyclists
Explanation: Under ZVoz-1 a novice driver is anyone under 21 as well as anyone in the first two years after first obtaining a licence. A 20-year-old is still a novice, and ZPrCP Article 105 requires novice drivers to have no alcohol in the body.
6An experienced 35-year-old rider shows no signs of impairment, but a breath test shows 0.30 mg/l. What is the legal position?
A.Legal, because riders over 25 who show no signs of impairment are not subject to a fixed limit
B.Legal, because the breath limit is 0.50 mg/l
C.Over the limit, as the breath limit is 0.24 mg/l
D.Legal, because only a blood test can establish an offence
Explanation: ZPrCP Article 105 allows drivers outside the zero-tolerance groups up to 0.50 g of alcohol per kg of blood or 0.24 mg per litre of exhaled air. A reading of 0.30 mg/l exceeds the breath limit, whatever the rider's behaviour.
7On a long ride you start yawning and your attention keeps drifting. What is the safest response?
A.Open the visor for fresh air and ride on to your destination
B.Stop at the next safe place and rest before continuing
C.Turn up the music in your helmet intercom to stay alert
D.Drink an energy drink while riding and keep going
Explanation: Yawning and wandering attention are warning signs of fatigue, which slows reactions and can lead to micro-sleep. The only effective remedy is to stop safely and rest; fresh air, music or caffeine only mask the problem briefly.
8A bus has stopped with its hazard warning lights flashing while children get off. What does this signal, and how should you react?
A.The bus has broken down, so overtake it quickly and carefully before it starts moving again
B.Nothing in particular, because buses often use hazard lights at stops
C.The bus is about to pull out, so you only need to give way to the bus itself and continue past the stop
D.Children are getting on or off; slow down and be ready to stop
Explanation: ZPrCP Article 70 requires the hazard warning lights while children board or leave a bus or other vehicle carrying a group of children. Children need special attention from all road users, so riders should slow right down and be ready to stop.
9When may cyclists ride two abreast under ZPrCP Article 93?
A.Always on roads outside built-up areas
B.Whenever they ride in a group of more than three cyclists
C.Never, under any circumstances
D.Only on a cycle path (kolesarska pot) wide enough for it
Explanation: ZPrCP Article 93 requires cyclists to ride one behind the other, except on a cycle path, where two may ride side by side if the path is wide enough. Riders should expect cyclists in single file on ordinary roads.
10Within what distance of a pedestrian crossing must a pedestrian use it rather than cross the road elsewhere?
A.50 m
B.100 m
C.150 m
D.200 m
Explanation: ZPrCP Article 83 requires a pedestrian to cross at a pedestrian crossing if it is less than 100 m away. Riders should still expect pedestrians crossing elsewhere, especially further from crossings.

About the Slovenia Theory Test A Exam

The theory part of the Slovenian driving exam for motorcycle categories A1, A2 and A is a 40-minute computer test run by the Slovenian Traffic Safety Agency (AVP). Its 40 items are worth 148 points: items 1-28 cover road-traffic content common to all categories (rules, signs, priority, driving on the road) and items 29-40 cover moped and motorcycle content such as helmets, passengers and cargo, visibility, riding technique and motorcycle risks. Candidates need at least 88% of the points, and two or more wrong 5-point items mean a fail. This independent practice bank adapts the official topics into English-language multiple-choice questions based on ZPrCP, ZVoz-1 and the AVP test layout.

Exam sponsor: Javna agencija Republike Slovenije za varnost prometa (AVP). The requirements and fees below concern the certification or admission exam, separate from our free practice resources.

Assessment

Computer-based test taken at an AVP examination location after registering at an administrative unit (upravna enota). Candidates have 40 minutes for 40 items worth 2-5 points each (148 points); items with several correct answers score only if all correct answers are marked, and answer order is randomised. The test is conducted in Slovenian, and candidates who need a foreign language must bring a court interpreter at their own cost. This OpenExamPrep bank is an independent English-language MCQ study adaptation, not an official translation or a simulation of the AVP test, and it does not replace the practical riding exam.

Slovenia Theory Test A: Suggested Study Strategy

1Practise the 5-point priority items (junctions, roundabouts, signal-controlled junctions) carefully: two wrong 5-point items fail the test even if your total is above 88%.
2Read every answer option: some AVP items have more than one correct answer, and you score only if you mark all of them.
3Know the two-wheeler rules in ZPrCP: type-approved fastened helmets for rider and passenger, passengers older than 12 with their own seat and footrests, and loads no more than 0.5 m beyond the front or rear.
4Learn the licence limits: A1 up to 125 cm³ and 11 kW, A2 up to 35 kW and 0.2 kW/kg, and direct access to A at 24 (or 20 after two years on A2).
5Remember that single-track vehicles may pass a stationary queue on the right only with care and never when the queue has stopped before a junction.
