About the ITI/NCVT Sheet Metal Worker (AITT Theory) Exam
The CTS Sheet Metal Worker trade trains candidates in cutting, bending, forming, and joining sheet metal of various materials and thicknesses (gauges). Coursework includes blueprint reading, pattern layout development (parallel line, radial line, triangulation), folding machines and hand stakes operations, seaming (grooved seams, Pittsburgh locks), riveting, soft soldering, silver brazing, and gas/arc/spot welding. Successful trainees earn the National Trade Certificate (NTC) after AITT.
Assessment
One-year CTS trade (1200 hours + 150 hours OJT/group project), NSQF Level 3, trade code DGT/1025. Summative AITT includes Trade Practical plus Computer-Based Test. Engineering-trade CBT: 75 questions / 150 marks / 2 hours covering Trade Theory (with Workshop Science & Calculation and Engineering Drawing items) and Employability Skills.
Time Limit
2 hours for CBT (AITT July 2026 DGT guidelines). Practical duration follows the DGT/State Directorate schedule.
Passing Score
