About the GATE EE Exam
GATE Electrical Engineering (EE) is the national-level entrance test for postgraduate engineering admission and PSU recruitment in India, jointly administered by IISc Bangalore and seven IITs. GATE 2026 is organised by IIT Guwahati. The Computer-Based Test runs for 3 hours and contains 65 questions for 100 marks — 15 marks of General Aptitude common to all GATE papers, plus 85 marks split between Engineering Mathematics (~13 marks) and the EE-specific subject (~72 marks). Questions come in three formats: MCQ (one correct, with negative marking), MSQ (multiple correct, no negative marking), and NAT (numerical answer, no negative marking).
